Step 1: Getting Yod'm 3D

First of all, Yod'm 3D isn't free anymore. If you want to buy the program then go ahead. If you don't want to buy the program, i have uploaded a slightly older version as a zip file. The file is 9.2 MB so it will take a while for it to download. Here it is...

INSTRUCTIONS
1. download the file
2. extract to somewhere you can find it - (rightclick -> extract)

You know the best way to have (and one that is actually good) is to use linux :)
Bongmaster says: Apr 25, 2009. 3:50 PM
hows this compared to compis fusion on a linux machine?
mrmoneybagss (author) says: Apr 26, 2009. 12:59 PM
well first of all, if what you're talking about is what i think it is; then ... *they both are desktop cube programs *they both look nice
hintss says: Aug 30, 2010. 4:20 PM
compiz is a compositing manager for linux, it adds lots of 3D effects, like making jiggly windows, making the windows 3d on top of the cube, and folding windows into a paper airplane when you close them. and I can do all but the last one on my netbook. *spins cube around while reading conky OSD*
ARVash says: Apr 26, 2009. 12:58 PM
they both do the cube, but trust me, compiz fusion does it tons better. On the upside though, it's nice to have 3d at all on windows ;

When you downloaded the .zip file. Did you extract the whole file? or did you just try to run the program without extracting first?

Not extracting the file could be the answer.

how do you remove the RUN prompt when ever you open the yod'm 3D and how to you get desktops on top and bottom of the cube
mrmoneybagss (author) says: Aug 10, 2009. 7:23 PM
1. is the run prompt thing the thing that turns yodm on right when you turn on windows? 2. that is the version you have to pay for. it seems to make my computer extremely slow. so i wouldn't recommend it
maxpower49 says: Aug 11, 2009. 3:34 PM
no every time i open it it asks if i want to run it
mrmoneybagss (author) says: Aug 14, 2009. 8:14 AM
two options: 1: when it asks you, press yes or no. 2: under preferences there should be an option to turn it off.
tanmanknex says: May 26, 2009. 11:14 PM
is it possible to get different icons on each desktop?
mrmoneybagss (author) says: May 28, 2009. 4:31 PM
unfortunately no that option is only for the people who bought it sorry
tanmanknex says: May 28, 2009. 5:50 PM

this is a nice piece of software, but i think that buying more software to support an already ridiculously expensive piece of software is pointless. I know many people are forced to use windows, but since switching to ubuntu I have never even thought about going back. Besides... Compiz Fusion does this better. --iSparkii

You shouldn't be using Instructables as a pirate website.
karossii says: Apr 25, 2009. 4:55 PM
It isn't piracy if the software is freely available. If an older version of a title was offered for free, it is not piracy to distribute it (the older version) for free after a new version is released with a price tag. (Unless of course the original free version had a license preventing redistribution, but I have never personally seen that with freeware'.')

Besides which, it is still freely available on the web (perhaps the author did not do enough research) - http://www.klitetools.com/comments.php?catid=58&id=5280
mrmath says: Apr 25, 2009. 5:16 PM
I got the impression that this is the current, for pay, version of the software, and thus made my comment. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry.
