Well my mother is a diabetic. And loves her hot chocolate.. So she figured out that she needs to watch her sugar intake.

She's not very good at finding her own recipes anymore. And I'm on kind of a moderate health kick watching my sugar intake blah blah blah...

So I decided for a little treat to learn to make her a hot chocolate mix that she can just make. Whenever where she doesn't have to make the whole thing before enjoying her nice warm cup of yumminess!

This is my journey of making this lovely little mix.. hopefully it is as lovely as it sounds.. I haven't tried it.... Anyways.. let's go!

Step 1: Gather the Ingredients

Supplies:

1. Jar you wish to store it in or gift. make sure it's clean *winks*
2. Jar decorations and labels
3. Large tape to seal the labels and directions from getting damp or mod podge
4. Measuring spoons and cups
5. 2 medium bowls
6. Sifter

Ingredients:

1. 6 tbs Unsweetened cocoa powder
2. 1/2 cup Dry nonfat milk powder (I used that Pacific brand stuff)
3. 1 tsp Cornstarch
4. 1/2 tsp Salt
5. 3/4 cup Baking stevia OR 1 1/2 cup sweetener of choice that measures like sugar (which is also 18 packets of stevia.)

Optional: Peppermint extract for peppermint hot chocolate

Step 2: Put It in a Bowl!

Add it all into 1 of the 2 bowls

Step 3: Sift It Good!

You could mix it with your fork, wisk, spoon or whatever.. I prefer sifting.. Why?!? because I can...

Actually I find that it mixes it together really really well!

you must repeat this step a couple times.. to make sure it all gets mixed really evenly. I did it twice

If you don't have one of those fancy sifters that you just sqeeze and it does it for you, shaking it and a spoon makes it go quicker!

Step 4: Try It Before You Give It!

No one wants to give or recieve something they can't stomach. If it's something you like to begin with..

Might as well give it a try!

I'm heating up my milk on the stove. Using Skim Milk..
Until it boils.
You know the drill.

Or use water.. or almond milk.. whatever, I'm not picky but you might be

Step 5: Mix in the Mix

1. Mix 1 tbs dry mix per cup of milk or water.

2. Stir until hot chocolate mix is completely dissolved and well combined.

I did it in the pot because I'm making 2 cups!

Optional:
Add additional sweetener and 1-3 drops peppermint extract to individual portions if desired!

Step 6: Pour and Enjoy!

Drink it!!!! It will be hot!
And pretty darn good..

Step 7: Seal and Deliver!

1. Put it in your jar and close it uptight.
2. Label it with a pretty label.. or a hand written one with the directions.
3. Put tape over the labels. or use mod podge..
4. Decorate the jar!!!!

Directions:

1. Mix 1 tbs dry mix with 1 cup hot almond milk, skim milk, or water.

2. Stir until hot chocolate mix is completely dissolved and well combined.

Optional:
Add additional sweetener and 1-3 drops peppermint extract to individual portions if desired

This turned out super good. Thank you so much for the recipe!
