Introduction: Dinosaur Birthday Cake

For my little man's 2nd birthday, I made him a dinosaur cake. Its made with store bought ingredients for quicker preparation.

Step 1: Bake the Cake

I made this a no-fuss cake by using a chocolate boxed cake mix.

I used two metal 9 inch cake pans, so that I could layer them.

Step 2: Let the Cake Cool Completely

Step 3: Frost the Cake

Use a round plate for your cake.

I used chocolate frosting - store bought for ease of preparation.

First, I spread a layer of frosting over my first layer, then I placed the other cake layer on top.

Then, I frosted the outside of the entire cake. I didn't have to worry too much about making a mess because of the cookie edge that hides imperfections.

Step 4: Add Cookies Around the Outside Edge

Take cookies like Oreos and chocolate chip cookies, and then cut them in half.

Place cookie halves around the outside edge of the cake.

Step 5: Add Crushed Cookies for a Rocky Terrain

I crushed up Oreos into chunks as the picture shows, and then scattered them on top of the frosted cake.

Step 6: Add Dinosaurs!

I used plastic toy dinosaurs, and placed them in my rocky, Oreo cookie terrain.

I also used candles for my little bubba's birthday.

Step 7: Enjoy!

I used the cookie edge spacing as a guide for serving sizes. Nom nom!
