Disney Pin Trader - Pin Holder/Hip Lanyard (water-proof, loss-proof)

It is water-proof, double-sided, and prevents pin loss. (And doesn't cost as much as a Disney lanyard or hip lanyard)

Necessity is the mother of invention. That is why I came up with this pin holder for going to the Disney theme parks. I didn't want to leave my nicer pins at home. I wanted to show them off. That is what presented a problem: How to keep my pins safe at the parks? I have heard horror stories and seen first hand that pins can just fall off in the parks and are never seen again, and I really didn't want that to happen. Those little rubber Mickey backs aren't that sturdy, and the locking backs are expensive and require a special key to come undone and there are dozens of stories online about how they are faulty.

So I designed this specialized hip lanyard!

Step 1: Tools Required

Clear Make-up Case/Bag (Found at Wal-Mart for $1.88)
Piece of Paper
Black Canvas Material (Found at Wal-Mart for $2.50)
Scissors
Pen
Carabiner
Needle and thread
Pins
Key chain ring
Disney Pins to show off!!

Step 2: Make a Template

Cut your piece of paper to a size that will fit inside the clear make-up bag.

Step 3: Pin Template on Canvas

Pin template on canvas. I used two layers of canvas to make it extra sturdy, but you could probably also use other materials as long as they were thick and could stand up to the weight of the pins.

Step 4: Cut Around Template

Cut around your template. **TIP** My scissors has a hard time cutting through two layers of canvas so be careful or cut each out individually.

Step 5: Sew Around Edges

Sew around the edges. Now this doesn't need to be overly pretty, because it isn't really noticeable in the finished product. I mostly just tried to make the edges not fray and as thick and durable as possible. ( I may go back and redo this step with a sewing machine.)
