Introduction: Custom Cleaning Wipes

Picture of Custom Cleaning Wipes

Wild chili-dog-eating parties don't clean up after themselves, and you'd be shocked where you'll find random sprays of hot sauce and chunks of ground beef.

Make your life easier with disposable cleaning wipes that allow you to choose the cleaning product and save a few cents on the commercial stuff.

Also, feel free to explain how a chunk of pre-chewed hot dog bun gets on top of the fridge because I'm at a complete and total loss.

Step 1: Materials

Picture of Materials
You'll need:
  • Baby Wipe Box
  • Unscented Baby Wipes
  • Concentrated Cleaning Product
Some ideas for cleaning products:
  • Mr. Clean
  • Lysol
  • Murphy Oil Soap
  • Windex

Step 2: Soak in Water

Soak the baby wipes in water for an hour or so and drain.

Step 3: Soak in Solution

Add fresh water and a couple glugs of your concentrated cleaning product.

Swish it around.

Step 4: Drain

Drain the solution and smash the wipes down to remove as much as possible.

Tip:  You probably should label the container if you have an actual baby in the house and/or make different kinds of wipes.

Great idea.

Hahahah I love your response!
I can see where this would be handy, w were using the Lysol or Clorox wipes but they got too expensive. We bought a couple packs of white industrial/shop wash cloths and keep a bucket of bleach water to use though.

Just being realistic when it comes to convenience as it's hard enough to wear skirts, full make up, and high heels without adding last minute cleaning of the omg sort. :P

I'd considered shop cloths but wanted something a bit smaller, but to be honest, it's the size of the typical job that matters - I can totally see the functionality of a larger wipe. At this point, I'm just doubling up the wipes for larger messes.

What is the advantage (if any) of these disposable cleaning wipes over an ordinary rag?

AngryRedhead (author)rimar20002013-12-26

The advantage is for occasions where you might use a paper towel (e.g., dog diarrhea on the floor), a rag isn't a good option (e.g., traveling in a car), or you just want handy wipes for the occasions when guests are 10 minutes away and you realized that you neglected to clean the base of the toilet that's covered in toilet splash and pubes.

Basically, the advantage is convenience because these take very little time/effort/money to make. My general contractor has a box of the Lysol brand wipes, and he uses them a lot at his jobs which is how I got addicted to them. :P
