Picture of Diy 3d Doodling With Hot Glue

in this instructable i am going to make a 3d doodle with a hot glue gun and a freezing cold plate .

it is not yet perfect and i am working on a way to make the stuff they have in 3d printers in a form you can put in your hot glue gun. (so you don`t need the freezing cold plate ) and of course is the plastic much stronger .IF SOMEBODY GOT SUGGESTIONS PLEAS LEAVE THEM IN THE COMMENTS

this is much cheaper than buying a 3d pen witch cost 100-150 euro`s . because it is made from glue it cant`t snap and it is simple to repair to

Step 1: What You Will Need for This Project

Picture of What You Will Need for This Project

the needs for this project are :

  • a bag of ice
  • a towel
  • a sheet of metal ( i used a baking plate )
  • a hot glue gun

this is for a small baking plate , i used a big one so i doubled it up.

Step 2: Making the Freezing Plate

Picture of Making the Freezing Plate

to make the freezing plate i used the flowing simple steps

  1. lay down the towel
  2. put the ice bags on the towels
  3. put the baking plate over it

Step 3: Make Something

Picture of Make Something

you can make simple patterns with painter`s tape . i taped

I made 1 mistake in my processes , because i putted the hot glue strait on the plate , the result of this was that i had some ugly peaces of black paint on the 3d model , the simlest way of solving this is to tape the hole plate . this allows you to sketch your design on the tape to.

I did not use a cold surface, I simply doodled flat shapes on baking paper and then stuck them together. Still fun. Not very strong though!

You beat me to it!

I was going to do the exact same thing as this but you absolutely nailed it - good job!

You might also try a cold air source to freeze the hot glue in mid air right after you extrude it.
