Picture of Dollar Bill Origami Heart

I'm sure that you have probably seen this somewhere on the internet, but I felt that Instructables needed one. Well anyways, its a pretty cool way to give someone money. It only takes about 5 or so minutes to make, and its awesome.

Here is a video: Not very exiting, but it gets the job done.

Step 1: Finding a dollar

I know this may be hard for some people (especially me), but you need to find a spare dollar that you can fold up. Try to find one that is pretty crisp and new.

Step 2: Turning a diamond thingy into a square.

You're bill should look something like this now.

Step 3: More triangles to make

Step 4: Making triangles into squares.

Step 5: Folding the edges of the squares in

Step 6: Kinda what we did in step 4

Step 7: Cleaning things up.

Step 8: The Quarter Trick

That's so awesome. Here's mine with a Seychelles 10 rupees note and 25 cents. Looks a little crude though.

I made it! The instruction is easy with detail. Thank you!

With a small tool, it makes origami with nice creases.

Was looking for dollar bill origami and just happen to see it was Clicked the link, loved the picture so I gave it a try. This is mine. I changed the back a little bit for the 5 dollar bill so Mr. Lincoln was facing out. Thank you again, wasn't to hard and is so beautiful.

 Great Instructable!

As you sure know, we are using euros € here in Europe. So that means that we do have very little dollar bills here. I still wanted to do this so I took a 10€ bill and started doing it. Your steps where a bit hard to understand for me but when I looked at the following picture I did understand. The 10cent did fit perfectly in to the heart too!

Thanks for posting a picture! It looks great with different currency!
Just a note (hah!), for currencies like New Zealand (& Australia too I think) it is incredibly hard to get it to hold its shape like a US/UK note or paper as they are printed on polymer, not paper.
I agree.

Thanks for the instructions. I took the liberty of improving on your design so that the heart lays flat. The side "ears" of the heart are folded inwards (or inverted), and the top flap is folded forwards behind the coin. Hope you like it...

Nice! Indonesian Rupiah with New Zealand Dollar :)

every year our school does a book drive. we also have an origami stand when we do it, but sometimes we need more inspiration for the stand. this is a FANTABULOUS (my fave word) example!

(except, 'o course, we would charge them more since the origami is made from bills and coins~~ )

SO awesome! nicely done, and when I make it, (or, at least, when I make an attempt to) I'll share a pic!!

that is the awesomest thing i have ever seen

its fantabulous

Loved it. Will make it soon with a different currency. cheers :)

Pic 6 in these steps is unclear, I'm not exactly sure what it is I'm supposed to do. It would have been more helpful if you would have explained some instead of just saying "There it goes".... :(
LegoBrickMaster7 (author)  lilcub281 year ago
That little triangle just gets folded under, next to the spine on the back of the heart. If the pictures are unclear you can watch the video, and it should clear things up.

Good luck! You're almost there!

I suggest using a toothpick for this part of the steps...
