Introduction: Doug's Oak Flight Cage
This Cage is like our regular flight cages except made from Oak instead of pine.
Step 1: Base and Shelf Assembly
Step one is to find the top of the base and turn it upside down. You will see the edges marked front, back, left and right.
Now find the legs which are numbered on the top of each and match them with the corner that is marked. Tighten them as tight as you want as long as the pre-drilled holes are facing the other legs. These are the holes that the aprons are attached to it.
Next, find a matching aprons that are marked front back left and right form and attach them to the base with 1 inch screws. You can use the 1 3/16" wood guide to help show you how far in the aprons go from the edge. Follow that with attaching the ends of the aprons into the legs using 1 5/8" screws.
Next, to attach the shelf, use the four shelf spacers and hold them against the legs. Turn the shell upside down and make sure the front is facing the front. Then use the 1 5/8" screws to attach that shelf to the legs.
You can now turn the whole base over and build the cage right onto it.
Step 2: Cage Assembly
Starting with panel A, which sits on the back left corner as you are looking from the front, use two 2 inch screws in the pre-drilled holes underneath the ledge of the top of the base and go into the bottom of the panel at the shown.
You will use this same procedure in panels B, C, D, and E. except panel B has four screws. Then you will attach the sides of the panels to each other using 1 5/8" screws in the pre-drilled holes.
Then, you can place the slide out drawers as shown. The drawers have a removable bottom piece of plexiglass that you will remove the protective film before using.
Now find the two stabilizer bars (perches) that are marked left and right on the ends that go to the back and attach using short black pan head screws in the pre-drilled holes as shown. You will attach the front of the bars to the front panels once they are installed.
Now, or panels F, G, and H. They do not they patch to the base, but sit just above the drawers. Attach panel F to panel E with 1 5/8" screws in the pre-drilled holes in the side of panel E. Now you can attach one screw of the Front stabilizer bar to panel F.
Next, panel G is the other side. Attach the same way. Finally, attach the middle panel H using 1 5/8" screws from the door frames into panel H. Attach the last black screws into each stabilizer bar to finish.
The top simply slips over the cage and uses eight 1 1/4" screws to attach via predrilled holes in the top crossbars of selected panels.
We have a be nice policy.
