MiniFRC Is a competition held by FRC team 4561, the Terrorbytes. 15 teams built quarter scale robots and competed them on a quarter scale field. In this tutorial I will show you how to download and install all the necessary software for MiniFRC. This includes:
- Arduino software
- AFMotor library
- Python 3.4.0
This tutorial was made for windows 10 but will work for windows 7/8/8.1
Step 1: Arduino Software
go to the arduino download page and click "Windows installer". Then click "Just download". When that finishes, run the exe and complete the wizard.
Step 2: AFMotor Library
Go to the AFMotor library Github. Click "Clone or download", then "Download ZIP". When that finishes, launch arduino and navigate to "Include Library" in the Sketch tab. Click "Add .ZIP Library..." and select the file you downloaded from the Github.
Step 3: Python 3.4.0
Go to the Python 3.4.0 download page and click "Windows x86 executable installer" to download the python installer. Run and complete the installer. It is important when the wizard comes up to check the box "add python 3.4 to PATH". Without this none of the upcoming steps will work.
Step 4: Wheel
Open your command prompt in administrator mode. Then type "pip install wheel" and hit enter. The install is complete when your command prompt finishes "cleaning up" and a new entry line appears. Leave your command prompt up because you'll need it in the next step.
Step 5: Pyserial
Open your command prompt in administrator mode. Then type "pip install pyserial" and hit enter. The install is complete when your command prompt finishes "cleaning up" and a new entry line appears. Leave your command prompt up because you'll need it in the next step.
Step 6: Pygame
Go to this website and ctrl + f search for "pygame‑1.9.2b1‑cp34‑cp34m‑win32.whl". This is the pygame wheel file. click the file to download it. The command you enter may be different for most people. Enter "pip install DOWNLOADS\pygame-1.9.2a0-cp34-none-win32.whl", where DOWNLOADS is the address of your Downloads folder. After the command prompt finishes "cleaning up" , close out of the command prompt and give yourself a pat on the back, you can now program your robot and drive-station :D
