I recently learned there is a difference between an "f-bomb" and an "F-bomb". Researching the slang eventually took me to this site: http://www.uncommongoods.com/product/f-bomb-paperweight and it suggested one can actually purchase a "f-bomb" - hmmm???

Once I checked it out, the instructable robot in me smiled and said ...I can easily make that!

(It's such a relief to occasionally drop an "f-bomb" and the recipient isn't offended)

Let's get started so you too can bomb away....

Step 1: Scrounge Up Some Materials

In this instructable I used...

a Baseball - I like the weight of a baseball, but any ball will work (i.e. styrafoam, tennis, metal...)

Patching Plaster - generally used to fill holes on walls but instead will be used to create texture on the base of the bomb

Rope - to resemble the fuse

Balsa Wood/Cardstock - to create the little letter "f"

Silver/Metallic Acrylic Paint - to give the appearance of an iron casing

a Large Washer - to keep the ball from rolling and to act as a stand

Glue gun, Scissors, Exacto Knife, Paint Brush, an hour of drying time

Step 2: Attach "fuse" to Base(ball)

Cut a 3" section of rope and attach the to the ball using a glue gun.

(Don't worry about the way it looks - - once it is painted, the glue will resemble a welded connection.)

Step 3: Texture the Ball

Spread a thin coat of patching plaster around the ball to create a bumpy texture

Step 4: Design the Letter "f"

Based on the photo ( http://www.uncommongoods.com/product/f-bomb-paperweight ) it appears the letter "f" extends about 1/2 way up the fuse.

With the relative size in mind, draw/trim the letter "f" from the balsa wood (or cardstock).

Step 5: Paint Da Bomb

I found it helpful to use a large washer to hold the bomb in place as I was painting the top of the bomb and since acrylic paint dries fast, don't try to paint all at once (too messy). Instead paint half of it, have a cup of coffee and then finish up the other side.

Likewise, it doesn't matter if you attach the "f" to the ball before or after painting.

(If after the paint has dried and the bomb appears too silver, you can tone it down by rubbing some shoe polish on the surface)

Step 6: Proudly Display (or Drop Unexpectedly)

While it's fun to strategically drop the "f-bomb" it's even more fun to see the expression of those that get the joke.

While my cats were not pleased being on the receiving end of the "f-bomb", there are plenty of robots that would loooove having one for their personal use.

Bombs away!
