Duct Tape Hat

A simple step by step on how to create a Duct Tape hat.

This is my first instructable =) Thanks to my friend who taught me how to do this.

Step 1: Stuff You Need

To make a duct tape hat you will need:

A hat you don't want anymore (sorry fans!)
A roll of duct tape
Scissors (optional)

lesson be learned is that it is not a duct tape hat unless it is only duct tape. no cardboard, no other hat, and no string. just duct tape. i actually have a pretty cool instructable. however i do like the way your end product hat looks

Regarding this instructible method...(I like it btw as it looks easier than the Duck Tape site)... Like packing tape body casting, There should be a way to wrap the first layer sticky side up and even using a glue stick to keep the inverted duct tape temporarily in place, once the first layer is completed, then it would just be layering the sticky side down on the 2nd layer and peel the final off the hat etc... someone mentioned tin foil, if you went the route of tin foil that might work well too, then just cover the tin foil on the inside of the hat with a layer of tape... hmmmmmm

Lol i made this at school once for a field trip on a rainy day, took me 10 minutes and looked good, lasted me the next 2 months. They don't have to be as sturdy as other items, but make sure to not have any end going into the hat insides, or else it will stick to your hair more.

you could just cover the hat with aluninum foil so you don't ruin the hat

more accurate title would be "duct tape covered hat". it isn't a duct tape hat until it is made only from duct tape.

My next Instructable shall be a How-to for a Solid Duct Tape Hat. It only uses the bill from another hat. sounds like cheating but I did not want to make a bill that was plain wrong. Watch out for my DT Hat and DT belt tutorials that will show up soon.

I agree, i hate it when people say they make shoes out of duct tape but all they do is cover a pair of shoes! Although it is still a nice instructable and the Seattle Mariners are awesome

hey no offence but why ruin a perfectly good hat by putting duct tape on it whenyou can make a pure duct tape hat using plastic wrap and cardboard that looks equally good or even better.( one of my friends made one)

Pretty cool. I must say though, I do like original-duct tape stuff though, a bit more. But hey, none the less- good job! :) I have a question for anyone who can help me- Does Anybody know where I might be able to find directions on how to make a Cowboy duct tape hat, from scratch? I can't seem to find anything really, and I'm not quite sure how to make this, myself. Any help would greatly be appreciated!! :-D Thanks! And g'job, once more! ~White Feathers~

the duct tape hat is a good idea it will last forever really but you dont have to cover a hat in duct tape i made one out of 100% duct tape

Good instructable for your first one, but I would have been WAY more impressed if oyu just used duct tape and scissors (not hat) and ended up with a hat made of ONLY duct tape.
