Introduction: Dutch Toast
A variation on French toast. Really it's just chocolate flavored French toast. But it was good enough I felt it warranted its own name designation.
Step 1: Preparations!
This is for a batch of 8 average size slices of wheat toast.
8 slices of toast
1 table spoon of vanilla extract
1 cup milk (I use whole milk)
2 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 cup Hot coco mix of your preference
2cup measuring cup
Med size mixing bowl
Med/large size frying pan
Whisk or mixing device
Step 2: Cooking
Pre heat your pan to frying temp while you mix the batter. I use cast iron so it's med heat for me here. Needs to be hot enough to sizzle the egg dipped bread upon contact.
Dip each slice of bread into the batter and submerge fully before placing on hot buttered iron skillet.
Brown each side and make sure that the bread doesn't rip when you check the second side. This will help judge if it is fully cooked it not.
Remove from heat and stack on plate.
Step 3: Afterthoughts.
You could put peanut butter as a thin spread between slices.
Or jelly. Or maybe even both in moderation!
I usually add a drizzle of honey instead of syrup.
For the full featured breakfast. Serve with whipped cream and bacon or sausage.
This goes well with coffee. For breakfast or otherwise.
