Ok, so I welded my couches... Actually I had to brace them with 2x4s on the bottom and then strap around the edges. Where can I buy these Hover-balls?

I beg to differ on the working on most computers thing. I can run Half Life 2 at full blast yet I can't run GM.

Who said that it works on most computers? It's a very odd game when it comes to being 'finished' It's almost like it's in a constant beta. The mod was developed by someone who unprofessionally does code, so it's what you could expect.

Garrys Mod is great because 1) It works on practically any comp 2) Fun 3) very easily coded LUA mods for endless possibilities. but the community is slightly ruined by people who dont know what it is and how to download it when a simply google search will tell you exactly how. And it's not unlimited - your hardware limits what you can do severly

I'm Sorry, but your Grammar/Spelling is Atrocious. Some people who visit this site use translating software to read what is being said, and you would have made it unreadable for them, Also, Garry's Mod is easy to use, you point and click to build stuff, Garry's Mod uses the Source Engine, a modifiable game engine, built by steam, and thus, is not available with out steam installed and a source engine to run it off of.

one, type clearly. Two, steam is not an excuse of a gaming platform; it is distributing software. Three, Garry's Mod 10 is only available through steam. Four you controll things that ouy make using the numberpad keys.

To clarify all the comments on Garry's Mod, it is a modification for a game called Half-Life 2. It is not a 3d modeling software; it is a game. Recent editions of the game are close to standalone, and only require one game that uses the source gaming engine. For most of the information related to the game please visit garrysmod.com and facepunch studios.

Aren't there forums and guides for stuff like this? This doesn't belong on Instructables.

FYI there are forums for this, but it still has a place on instructables. Just because it isn't real, doesn't mean that it shouldn't be on instructables. There are thousands of youtube videos about this game, but do they not belong on youtube? Think about it.

The heart of Instructables is in mods. Get a life. (Pun intended.)

Actually, it's a building game, if 3dmodeling, and secondlife groups exist, why not a Garry's mod? The instructable is a bit simple, but perfectly legitimate. There aren't any limits in Garry's mod, so.. there aren't any forums or guides.

I don't mind this being on Instructables, but it would be a lot better if the author would explain which game this thing was for. Also explaining why this is better/faster/cheaper than other choices in that game would be a good idea too. Finally, if there was a cost in virtual money, a price breakdown would be good too.

No costs :P, Sofa's are more stable than a wooden board or pallet. The edge keeps you from falling out.
Honestly I'm happy to see this on Instructables. but as far as Garry's mod goes, it's extremely simple.
Garry's mod allows you to build things you could in real life(or can't) without restrictions.

Why not? It has instruction, so I think it qualifies as an Instructable.

Dude, as a mere reader of this website, I'd like to say that I think there's room here for this kind of stuff. I just wish you would be clear on the first step (the summary, the part that comes across the RSS feed) that what you are doing is creating a virtual item using "x" tool, under "y" game. Then, in the same step, you could briefly explain why someone would like to emulate what you have created. Stop assuming that the wide range of people, some of which have never played Half Life, even know what to do with a "podless hover car", and stop assuming that the average joe or jane reader already know that "Garry's Mod 10" is a add on software toolkit for the video game Half Life. But don't let the few vocal naysayers get you down. Keep making them.

Yeah, it's a no limits building system. :D. there are hundreds of user made minimods, thanks to the no compile needed LUA coding.

The awesome way to do this was by attaching thrusters on all sides of a dumpster and having to jet around manually. Hoverballs? Didn't have those.
