Clever idea. I often use an old cork.

Yes, thanks. I debated on cutting up a cork but since the originals were cork which had deteriorated over time, I was seeking something more durable. These are "vintage" shakers. The old cork kept breaking off and I had to extract it in pieces with dental pick and tweezers! One also had a rubber stopper which also had deteriorated over the years. I think the plastic will outlast ME! LOL
