This video will show you how to build your own balance board, including all the dimensions. Balance boards have been known in the circus for a long time as rola-bolas, but they are now appearing on the market as indoboards or voodoo boards. They are used as balance training aids for various board sports, mainly surfing, skating and snowboarding. I will show you how to make your own at a fraction of the cost.

Try putting a rim all the way around the board and using it on a bowling ball.

ahaha i actually did that and its quite amusing.. extremely hard to balance on though (well as long as you try to move the board in a circular motion around the ball)

What about attaching some transfer balls to a skateboard deck, or something?

I just made a similar type of thing except i used a two by four but the stoppers on the end i tried that originally but i was having trouble with balancing when the pipe got to close to the edge i had a really hard time balancing what i did was i moved the stoppers closer to the middle and that helped out

what else can you use besides wood? A hard cover book worked well for me, but it was to small.

Nice Instructable. The video is a good way to show such a simple idea, since there are no exact dimensions to stick to. I've watched it through once, and could go and make one, though I wouldn't use the bottle. How about adding more videos of the tricks?

You can't really do tricks since it doesn't stick to the carpet and there is no friction, the most you can do is just swing back and forth. In the trainers room I play on a bongo board, its ancient, but I wanna make one of my own.

The metacafe flash video player is a piece of crap and will not work on some operating systems. Please respect the intended instructable layout and break the video into a series of images with accompanying instructions as text.

On my page Build your own balance board there are instructions you can print out with photographs, in case you don't have a computer in your workshop (or the video player doesn't work).

i think its alot easier using a soda bottle but i filled it with water just in case it happens to open =P and insted of making a whole board i just used one of my old skateboard decks. fuck thing to do on a rainy day and just when you are board.

Cool... i'm gonna make one of these and get myself some carpet/noslipmat so i can get wicked balanceing skills to help me not suck on a skateboard, and build muscle for next snowboard season... wicked thanks.

When I was a kid we had a vintage Bongo Board. I wonder where that thing is. Maybe I should dig it out of my parents garage and eBay it.

knowing me, i'd get thirsty and reach under and open the soda and GOOOOOOSH. big mess. I'll stick with the PVC pipe. Really good idea. I tried one of these oval ones in a local skate shop but didn't want to pay eighty bucks for it.
