That is great! :) Yeah, of course do this, this is very unusual and very beautiful gift. I hope your boyfriend will like it! I suggest that you would ask a friend to help because this take some time, especially if you are going to make it big :)) Best luck for you and post some pictures in a comments ;)

My art is small-scale - I embroidered her a card, and I'm halfway through making her a flapping dragonfly (based on the Minty Beating Heart instructable).
