Take the epoxy and mix enough for one end. Put it all around the narrow end of the tube (and you can get some on the felt so that it will stay in place too).

Set the filter into the epoxy (male threads out) and make sure it seats well. Getting epoxy on the inside threads should help it hold better. Be very careful to not get any epoxy on the male (outside) threads, or you won't be able to screw the lens on.

Try to get it on there as flat and square as possible.

I made a total mess with this. It in general won't affect image quality much, but the light color epoxy may cause odd ghosting, so I would recommend using a dark matte drying epoxy if possible, or coloring/covering after it is set. I couldn't do that because I was unable to get the filter glass out before I installed it.
