This is my new knex gun. It shoots about 20 - 30 feet, depending on the rubberbands. It used to be a crossbow but it wasn't sturdy enough, so I changed it into a gun.

Pros:

Piece efficient
Good range for what it is
True trigger
No modified pieces

Cons:

Not too comfortable
Handle looks weird

UPDATE: My new handle (shown in pic 2) is much more comfy than the old one and it is advisable that you build this instead!

ANOTHER UPDATE: My even newer handle and ratchet system (shown in pics 3 and 4) is even better than the previous update and it is advisable that you build this instead!

Now, on with the building!

Step 1: The Barrel Front

This is the front of the barrel

Step 2: The Main Barrel

This is the main barrel. The bullet slides down this.

Step 3: The Trigger

This is the trigger and trigger mech.

Step 4: The Handle

This is the handle. It is a bit crappy so I would advise that you modify it.

Step 5: Assembly

This is the fun bit.

Step 6: Rubberband Placement

This is where you put the elastics

Step 7: Loading and Firing

How to load and fire.

Hook the top elastic band around the orange trigger connector, put the ammo in, and PULL THE TRIGGER!

Step 8: Finished!

Have fun with your gun!!
It isn't too bad for a first try, but it could use a bit of improvement. First of all, the handle kind of looks like it could hurt your hand, so maybe making it less 'pointy' could help. The prongs sticking out of the handle will dig into your flesh, so if you find a way to remove them, it'll be much more comfy.

Also, from personal experience with these types of guns, I can tell the mechanism is a bit weak. Maybe you could have the mech block a little white circle somehow, instead of having a free swinging piece.

After you've fixed all of that stuff, you could enter it into the K'nex Rods & Connectors Contest if you haven't already. I'd love to see this get fixed up a bit and submitted! :D
Thanks for the feedback! I've improved the handle now, but I can't find a way to greatly improve the mech. Also, sorry for late reply, I posted a comment a few days ago only to find that I wasn't actually replying☺
You're welcome! The handle is better, but if I were you... this will be hard to explain in words, but move the mech forward and make a 45 degree slanted handle branch off of the yellow connectors on the bottom, which should be changed to white for the handle to be attached. The trigger should somehow go in front of the handle, and again, that mech can only hold bands that are weaker than the band that is pulling the trigger, so as I said before: make it block a K'nex 8-prong gear. If you do, you'll have what's called a ratchet system, and it'll be very reliable.

If you don't understand any of that, I can give you links to examples of what I'm taling about. :D I'd still love to see it entered into the contest!
Oh, wait... Sorry, you couldn't find a way to make a better mech (I should've read your comment more in depth); let me give you a link to a ratchet system. Also, feel free to check out my new rifle thingy, Bijou.
I've finally made a ratchet system for this (and entered it into the contest :D), however, the handle is still a bit pathetic. Also, I had a look at your rifle thingy and it looks cool. Are you going to post instructions?
Awesome! I'm glad you got that mech figured out! I'm sure you'll think of a way to make the handle better sometime; you are always allowed to update your creations once they are entered into the contest.

I might post instructions for the rifle thingy, but I'm not sure; would you like to build it? :3
Thanks! I would like to build your rifle thingy, because I've only built one turreted gun before (the TR18) and I'd like to build another one. Also, I voted for it in the weekend projects contest :)
Oh, thanks! I don't know why it took so long for me to respond, but sorry. D: I dismantled it. If I knew you had wanted to build it, I definitely would have posted instructions. Oh well...
Never mind. I built Syvergent and that was cool :D
Thanks. What kind of ranges did you get?
About 40 feet but I could get more with more rubber bands ?
:D
Good job!
Thanks!
Cool! Just the handle looks strange.
Thanks!
