This instructable will go through the process of constructing a pre-programmed microcontroller from BigClive.com, and putting together homemade and expandable five-foot light bars, enabling you to have patterned LED lighting. This could range from basic colors of the rainbow (ROYGBIV), through flashing emergency lights to rapid 'rave-style' patterns.
This project is highly modifiable for whatever your needs may be (10' light bars, red/white/blue lighting, different wiring styles, etc), and I've created a rather large project out of this involving ten five-foot long light bars. My costs minus tools have ended up a bit over $400 for everything, but I consider the cost to be worth having guests be awed upon entering and the perfect atmosphere for 'till sunrise' gaming sessions. If you don't want to spend the money for this project, I hope you can at least gain some knowledge about how to wire LEDs and apply it to your future projects. Enjoy!
