Colorful every flavor suckers are fun, easy to make, inexpensive and delicious.

I first made these for a Carnival Game, where you pick a sucker and if the bottom of the stick is colored, you win a prize. If not, you get the sucker. I quickly found out that the big beautiful carnival suckers are expensive and would not fit within the budget. Plus, I wanted to make sure they would be safe for the children to eat. These creations turned out to be the perfect solution.

Step 1: WHAT YOU WILL NEED

SUPPLIES:
Sucker sticks
Sugar
Lite Karo Syrup
Food coloring
Water
Flavorings - Root Beer, Lemon, Banana, Strawberry, Orange, whatever floats your boat
Candy Thermometer
Non-stick aluminum foil

Step 2: GET READY

Once you have the candy to the proper temp, things are going to move fast. Make sure to have everything ready first.

Lay out your aluminum foil and have the sucker sticks at the ready. Line up your flavoring and food coloring so you are ready to move.

Step 3: CANDY RECIPE

To make the sucker candy:
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup lite Karo
1/4 cup water
Food coloring - 2 drops or until desired color
Flavoring - 2 drops or until desired taste

Cook the sugar, Karo and water in a sturdy pot until the HARD CRACK stage. It will be marked of your candy thermometer, but it is 290 to 300.

When you are at HARD CRACK, add the coloring and flavoring.

Using a spoon, pour a spoonful onto the aluminum foil and lay the candy stick inside. You can add as many flavors as you wish. I made these suckers quite large. The carnival game suckers were smaller, but just as tasty. I chose to make swirls and dots, but would probably do the next batch with stripes.
