Find some awesome fabric. Lets face it your stuffed animal is really a vehicle with which to
show off that amazing piece of upholstery fabric youve had around for ages, or that vintage tablecloth with the stain in one corner. Youll want a fabric that is strong enough to withstand whatever activities your stuffed animal will be doing, whether its being a childs playtoy or looking pretty on a shelf. A square yard should be plenty, and may even get you two animals if you plan right.

Draw a pattern. Sure, you can find patterns for the basics online. But with a little imagination you can make an animal thats wholly yours. It might not be anatomically correct, but your bunnypig will have more personality than any generic bear. Keep it simple at first legs, arms, a head, maybe some floppy ears. Aim for stuffing ease you may want to hold off on making that octopus til later. (You can get creative when you sew on eyes and features.) Fold your fabric in half with the design facing inwards, and draw your pattern on one side with a sewing chalk.
