These ear warmers are lined with super soft minky fabric to keep your ears warm and toasty in the winter months. The earmuffs will fit most adults and children.

Step 1: Gather Supplies

100% cotton woven fabric, print of your choice, 20 inches X 6 inches
minky fabric for lining, 20 inches X 6 inches
cotton low loft batting, 20 inches X 6 inches
all purpose thread
1" woven elastic, about 5 inches
pins
paper
rulers
scissors and rotary cutters with mat
sewing machine
small bowl, about 4 inches in diameter
Iron and ironing board

Step 2: Make a Template

To make your template, you can use a sheet of copy paper. Mark a rectangle 10 inches by 2 1/2 inches.
Next, Mark a line through the rectangle, 6 inches in.
Using this line as a guide, center the small bowl over it and trace a circle.
Using freehand, draw lines connecting the edges of the circle to the sides of the rectangle.
Designate the 2 1/2 inch end of the longer side as "fold." This side will rest against the fold of fabric when you cut it.
Cut out the template.

Step 3: Use Template to Cut Fabric and Batting

Smooth out your fabric and fold it in half. Lay the template against the fold with the designated side.
Carefully cut around template using scissors or rotary cutter. Do this for the cotton fabric, minky, and cotton batting.

Step 4: Layer the Fabrics Together

You need to layer the fabrics and batting like a sandwich.
Layer the batting first, then minky with right side up. Place the elastic strip against one of the small edges.
Next, place the cotton print fabric right side down.
Pin well all the way around your piece.

Step 5: Sew Pieces Together

Sew all the way around the project with a 1/2 inch seam allowance. Leave two openings. One will be about 3 inches on one of the long sides to allow you to turn your piece right side out. The other will be a small opeining at one of the small edges to insert the other end of the elastic.
After you've sewn it, carefully trim off the corners. Cut notches around the round areas and cut away excess fabric.
Turn it right side out and use the point of your scissors to push out the curves and corners.

Next, with the opening on the long side, fold the fabric in and pin in place. Using the corner of your iron, carefully press the edges on the cotton print side.

Step 6: Topstitch

Hold the ear muffs on your head and use your fingers to measure the elastic. It should be snug but not tight. Place the unfinished end of the elastic into the opposite side and pin in place. You will need to fold the fabric inward so that there are no unfinished edges exposed.
Topstitch 1/4 inch from the edge around the entire piece.
