Introduction: Easy Beaded Bracelet

About: In a valiant attempt to keep myself from dying of boredom, I create.
I always wanted to make bead jewelry, but it took quite a few years to learn some of the easy jewelry secrets.  A few years ago I met one lady who made bracelets for high end department stores.  She used chucky glass beads and stretch string.  The secret was using the thickest stretch string possible (1mm is the best) and sealing the knot so that it would not untie.  Since then I have made lots of this type of bracelet.  Today I bought a new outfit and it is purple, so I decided to make a purple bracelet to go with it, and this is how I did it.

Step 1:

Supplies:
+/- 23 glass beads (these are the center beads)
+/- 46 small glass beads (these are the side beads)
0.7 mm stretch beading string (found in most craft stores, +/- $2.50 a spool)
Scissors
Super glue (or artificial nail glue, $1.00)

Step 2:

Measure out 36 inches (90 cm) stretch string.

Step 3:

Put a center bead in the center of the stretch string.

Step 4:

Put a side bead on each side of the center bead.

Step 5:

Pick up another center bead and string the right hand string through it, and then string the left hand string through it.  The two strings are crossing each other inside the bead.

Step 6:

Pull tight.  I used the 0.7mm stretch string, because the hole in the bead would not allow the 1 mm string to go through twice.  It worked with the 0.7mm string.

Step 7:

Repeat steps 4-6 until you reach the length you need to go around your wrist.  I used 23 center beads, and 46 side beads.

Step 8:

When you have completed the bracelet, string the right side string through the right side, of the very first bead.

Step 9:

Take the two strings and tie a square knot and pull the knot tight as you can.

Step 10:

Put one drop of super glue on the knot and let it dry, about 1 minute.

Step 11:

Cut off the excess string and you are done,

Step 12:

put on your new bracelet on and see how you like it.  If you don’t like it, you can cut the string, and redo the bracelet.

Step 13:

These are two more bracelets that were made the very same way, only using different size beads for the center and side beads.  I love bracelets.  Enjoy.
