Here's a healthy, delicious snack that does not take a lot of time to fix.  Edamame, green soybeans, are in their pods. You can buy them frozen or if you are lucky get them fresh out of your garden. By adding seasonings, you can make this so tasty. Everyone will love it.

please help me!! lol. i love edamame, i've been eating it like crazy, but i don't understand something here!! :D why do you flavor the shell, if you only eat the beans? and if i pop the pods in my fingers and put the beans in my mouth...why? what? lol. help!!! i want flavor, while in the pod, but i have to check for worms because they gross me out and i get 1-5 worms per package from walmart.

They're also good with melted butter and garlic. Mmmmm.

About buying the wormy ones--don't shop Walmart. You'll find a better quality and probably organic at a local food cooperative or Whole Foods. Even if it says organic, check the country of origin. If it says China, think twice. Remember, that's the country that put melamine in their baby milk and poison in dog foods.

This is the way I eat edamame: I grab one pod and put it in my mouth to get the flavor and squeeze the pod so the bean pops out. The soy sauce and toasted sesame oil flavor is on my tongue while I am chewing the bean. Yum! *******
I am totally grossed out that there are worms on the soybeans you buy. I have never run across worms - ever- but lately I only buy locally grown soybeans because I don't trust food from outside the US. Here in Hawaii, it is a snack that everyone eats so we are very lucky that it is available fresh (grown in Hawaii) at the supermarket. On the bag that you buy, check to see where it was grown. Most green soybeans come from China.

I love edamame! I've never added anything but salt to it, though. I might have to try some sesame oil next time, that sounds awesome.
