Easy Harry Potter Scarf

Be the envy of your fanclub with this remarkable scarf. I can not take all of the credit for this for me bestest pal Jake or SIRJAKEOFCAMELOT taught me how to do this. He taught me how to do a scarf and I thought out the whole Harry Potter connection...THANK YOU JAKE!!!

Step 1 Supplies!

1.Two house coloured yarn. I cose to support goog ole Godrick
2.Tape, Duct is best
3.Scissors
4.Time
5.ENDURANCE

Gee. I didn't know I was completely limited to the colors of the houses from the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Bandersnatch House! Colors teal, purple and vermillion.

just wanted to ask... when you pushed the yarn off onto the straws, did it seem to "unravel" a bit?
'cause that's what mine did, and i'm not sure how to fix it D:

just slide the part you wove onto the yarn. it will slide right on!!!

i'm trying to make this scarf, and am using slightly larger McDonald's straws, so when i push the yarn off the straws, they seem to unravel a bit?
... is that supposed to happen?

if not, could you tell me how to make it properly? XD

It's essentially a basic weave...
I had weaving kit when I was younger and I made scarves with it all the time... sad I donated it ....

while weaving mine i ran into the problem of the straws bending and crushing just from repitition. then they end up all flimsy like when you chew on your drinking straw. Just in case anyone else ends up with this problem you can fix it by pulling the broken straw out of the knitted part and removing the tape. then replacing the straw and tape. then pull the individual strand of yarn from the other end to tighten it up a little. then continue weaving. you'll be able to even the straws up next time you advance them.

I wonder if the scarf becomes uneven after a while or if its streched to much?

Neat! You've essentially made a scarf out of a makeshift loom. I did some loom work in art school, and it was fun; but I never had the idea to make a scarf--you could do all kinds of experimental tapestry work with this technique.

It looks really cool, but I still think it would be easier to just learn how to knit :P. I know that seems like an imense task to some people but really, if I can do it, anyone can.

I think you mean add 7 more, or 5 more. Because if you include the original, you'll end up with an odd number, not an even.

hi, um... when I needed to restart my scarf, (I had apparently chosen the rarest color of gray.) the first section came off and it is coming off much looser than it should be, should I be worried?

this is class! I'm not that into harry potter but I could make it any colour. I can knit, but I get stitches wrong and messy. This is CLASS! (that means cool in case you didn't know.) This should be on the newsletter!
