It's essentially a basic weave...
I had weaving kit when I was younger and I made scarves with it all the time... sad I donated it ....

Aug 13, 2010. 2:26 PMasiabreen says:
I already know how to knit, but i must say, this looks really fun. And you did a good job of explaining things. Slytherin scarf, here I come. :)

OH MY GOSH! SO MUCH EASIER THEN KNITTING! Although it is the summer, ravenclaw scarf, here i come!
Dec 21, 2009. 10:33 AMklemci says:
nicely done instr. its so much easier than learning to knit.
I wonder if the scarf becomes uneven after a while or if its streched to much?

Aug 30, 2009. 4:19 AMCeris says:
It looks really cool, but I still think it would be easier to just learn how to knit :P. I know that seems like an imense task to some people but really, if I can do it, anyone can.
Dec 31, 2007. 12:40 PMmaeve says:
this is class! I'm not that into harry potter but I could make it any colour. I can knit, but I get stitches wrong and messy. This is CLASS! (that means cool in case you didn't know.) This should be on the newsletter!

How 'bout using a few hundred straws and making a blanket? That would be all those ostentatious words you put up, plus some. How about a full sized blankie for a double bed? How many years would it take to make?????
Jul 29, 2009. 2:13 PMmaeve says:
Oh by the way... You can totally sell these at craft fairs, especially if you knit them with furry mohair wool... It's a bit dearer than yarn, but it turns out reallly cool.

This really is an awesome instructable! I'm making a Gryffindor scarf right now and your right, it does take a long time to finish.
Jul 23, 2009. 7:54 AMboristherussian says:
I can get most of mine done in about 8 hours straight. It is great to do while you watch TV
Jul 16, 2009. 8:18 AMpattyjk says:
This is great. You explained it SO well that even I can do it! I'm making one for my little HP fan. I think she'll actually wear a scarf this winter! Thanks!
Jul 22, 2008. 10:46 PMangelscoot7 says:
I might sound stupid but how does it not unravel when you take the straws out???
Sep 3, 2008. 5:36 PMblah23 says:
there is yarn inside the straws so when she is done and removes the straws the weaving goes onto the yarn. the straws are just there because its easy to weave with. :)
Jul 22, 2008. 10:47 PMangelscoot7 says:
P.S. this is awesome but i'm a little confused....
Jul 18, 2008. 4:45 PMbarry_allen7 says:
That is really cool! I'm gonna make one now. (Even though it's the middle of summer.)
