Introduction: Easy Homemade One Bowl Brownies

Easy, Delicious, One Bowl

These brownies are delicious and easy to make - and only use one bowl! What could be better than warm, fudgy brownies with only one bowl to clean up?

Step 1:

Gather your supplies. You are going to need the following:

  • parchment paper
  • metal baking pan
  • whisk
  • measuring cups
  • spatula
  • microwavable bowl
  • sifter or handheld strainer
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose/plain flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup chopped nuts, optional
  • 1 cup chocolate chips + more for sprinkling on top

You can use either regular unsweetened cocoa powder or dark chocolate cocoa powder. You can also use any type of chocolate chips -- semi-sweet, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, peanut butter, mint chips -- to customize this recipe to your taste.

Step 2:

Getting Started:

First, preheat your oven to 350°F.

Second, line your baking pan with the parchment paper.

The parchment paper will make for an easy clean up!

Step 3:

In a medium bowl, melt the 1 stick of butter and then add the 1¼ cup of sugar and whisk together well for about a minute.

Step 4:

Add in the 2 eggs and the 2 teaspoons of vanilla and whisk together for another minute.

Step 5:

Sift into the bowl the 2/3 cup of all-purpose flour, the 1/2 cup of cocoa, the 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and the 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder. Mix together until combined.

If you use a handheld strainer or a sifter, you can measure the ingredients into the sifter/ strainer and then sift them directly into the bowl.

Step 6:

Use a spatula to fold in the chocolate chips and nuts or whatever add-in you like.

Note: The batter will be very thick!

Step 7:

Spread the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle a handful of chocolate chips on the top before placing the pan in the oven.

Step 8:

For fudgy brownies, bake 25 to 30 minutes or until brownies start to pull from edges of pan.

For cakier brownies, bake for an additional 5 to 7 minutes.

Be careful not to overbake! Remember brownies will continue to cook a bit as they cool in the pan.

Cool completely in pan on wire rack.

Once cool, you can remove the entire pan of brownies from the pan. The parchment paper should allow you to do this easily and quickly.

Makes 16 brownies, depending on how you cut them.

Step 9: Tips/Tricks and Nutritional Info

1. You can use any kind of nuts – walnuts, pecans, almonds, macadamia nuts, your choice!

2. These are equally delicious made with unsweetened cocoa or dark chocolate cocoa.

3. You can use any type of chocolate chips, chunks, or add-ins you like – semi-sweet, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, peanut butter or mint chips, dried fruit, candy. Your imagination is the limit!

4. Be careful not to overbake! Remember brownies will continue to cook a bit as they cool in the pan.
