I have been wanting to try to knit a tie for a while now and with Father's Day coming up (it was when I started) I decided to give it a go.  It's pretty easy to make and soft to wear!

I can't wait to try this out! :) how much yarn did you end up using? would a 200 yd/183m ball be enough?

I'm sorry, I'm exactly sure, but I used Red Heart Super Saver which appears to come on a ball of 364 yards and I don't think I even used half, so you should be set with 200 yards. It's mainly the first fat part that uses the yarn, then it's just a bunch of short rows.

It could be a classy sort of shawl! I'd like to try it sometime and make my boyfriend wear it . :)

Love this! I think I might just have to try a crochet version...

I think that sounds like a great idea! I thought about crocheting a tie, but my only crochet experience so far is with amigurumi, so I thought I would stick with what I know for now. I'd love to see it if you do it!

Thanks! I just noticed you can see the Instructables robot that is in the red shirt I am wearing under the white button up :)

The classic design would be based off the vintage 60's "Rooster knit" tie. Straight with square end.
