Make your own Pumpkin Spice Latte at home, with or without an espresso maker!
Using real pumpkin puree makes this SOOOOO much better than Starbuck's pumpkin spice latte - and making it at home makes it so much more affordable too! You can make it sugar-free, dairy-free, whatever you like! I would drink this every day - but probably skip the whipped cream (well, maybe every other day. . .).

Step 1: Ingredients

Of course you can make this recipe with pre-made Pumpkin Spice Syrup, but I don't know where to buy that, and I'm pretty sure it's not available all year 'round anyway. So I substituted actual canned pumpkin. If you can only find pumpkin pie filling, you can use that too! Just cut out the extra sugar and spices.

1 cup milk
2 tablespoons canned pumpkin
1 teaspoon sugar or sugar substitute
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
2 shots espresso (or really strong coffee if you don't have access to an espresso maker - which I don't)

I don't have the tools to make steamed milk or froth, so mine is more of a caf&eacute; au lait. I doubled the strong coffee because I NEEEEEDED it today. The flavor is wonderful.

This looks tasty, though if I made it here, I'd have to find a substitute for pumpkin pie spice. We don't keep it in the house because the boyfriend is sadly allergic to cinnamon and mildly irritated by cloves. Any suggestions?
How does he feel about nutmeg?
He has no problems with nutmeg at all, it's just the cinnamon will cause anaphylaxis, and the clove makes him itch.

A different kind of comment... I used to watch them milk cows at Stornetta's when I was a wee lad... This looks very yummy too! :)
And using real pumpkin adds a big boost of nutritional value to this. Pumpkin is full of b vitamins- and you get a little extra fiber!!
I'm not lucky enough to have an espresso maker, therefore I will be making extra strong coffee. My question is: how many ounces would you say 2 shots is? Would you use a shot glass, or more precise than that.
I used about 1/4 cup of coffee I think. It really depends on taste. I'm all for experimenting!
