In this instructable, I will show you how to make Snickerdoodles. These were actually the first cookies I learned how to make back in my 8th grade (Middle School) cooking class. This Snickerdoodle Cookie recipe is really easy to make, if I can make them, you can make them, go out there and make your own! Let's get baking!
Make sure to check out my other instructables.
If you have any questions or comments put them down below and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Follow the easy steps or watch the short video tutorial or do both!
Step 1: Ingredients/Tools
- 1 cup of softened unsalted butter (226g)
- 1 1/2 cup of granulated sugar (300g)
- 2 eggs
- 2 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour (340g)
- 1/4 tsp. of salt (1.5g)
- 2 tsp. of cream of tartar (7g)
- 1 tsp. of baking soda (6g)
- 3 Tbsp. of Sugar (37.5g)
- 3 tsp. of cinnamon (8g)
Step 2: Cream Those Ingredients
First we cream together our softened butter, sugar, and eggs with a hand mixer or stand mixer. If you don't have one of those you could use a wooden spoon, it will just be a bit harder to do.
Step 3: Mix or Sift Dry Ingredients
Next we mix together our flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and our salt. I am using a whisk but you can use a sifter too if you like.
Step 4: Add, Mix, Scrape, Clean
Now we add our flour mixture to our other mixture about a third of it at a time, make sure the scrape the sides of the bowl with a spatula after each mix. Once the flour is all incorporated you will be left with a nice dough. Now just clean off the beaters with a fork or spatula.
Step 5: Chill It
Now we need to chill our cookie dough and our cookie sheet. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and place both the bowl with the dough and the cookie sheet in the fridge for about 15 minutes. While they are chilling go ahead and preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. or (176C)
Step 6: Mix, Scoop, Roll, Bake
Next we will mix together our cinnamon with our sugar in a small bowl using a fork or small whisk. Now we scoop out about a large tablespoon of cookie dough and roll it in out hands to make a ball. Then dip the ball in the sugar and cinnamon and roll it around to coat it really well. Then place it on your cookie sheet. Once you are done with all of them, bake them in the oven for 8 to 11 minutes.
Step 7: Cool Them
Once done they will be slightly brown around the edges, take them off of the cookie sheet immediately to cool completely on your cookie rack. Then enjoy them!
***These will wind up being a nice soft cookie. If you would like it more crunchy, let them bake a minute or two longer, and you can always let them cool on the baking sheet.
