I used to use paper towels in between my pans to avoid them from getting scratched when stacked. Super ghetto! So I decided to make these extremely easy pan protectors which are incredibly fashionable in my pan drawer, especially when you find eggs & bacon fabric!

These protectors are square. I found that the corners protect the sides of the pans quite well and the shape is very easy to make.

Step 1: You Will Need:

- Fabric (at least 2x 10.5" squares)

- Thin batting 10"x10" (you could also use felt)

- Ruler

- Scissors or rotary cutter

- Marking chalk

- Pins

- Sewing machine (or patience to hand sew).

Step 2: Measure

To make 10"x10" protectors, measure 10.5"x10.5" squares. It will allow 1/4" of seam on each side.

For the batting, you will only need 10"x10".

Step 3: Cut

Cut the fabric and the batting.

Step 4: Sew 3 Sides

Right sides facing in (both wrong sides facing out), pin first, then sew three sides of the fabric squares.

Step 5: Add Batting and Flip Inside Out

Place the batting on one side and flip the whole thing inside out, making sure the corners are nice and filled.

You could just flip the fabric inside out first and then add the batting, but I find that placing the batting first helps it stay in place. The important thing is to make sure the entire space inside is filled and that the batting touches all of the seams and corners. Otherwise you will have odd lumps or valleys over time.

Step 6: Pin the Edges and Batting

Secure the batting by pinning the edges all around.

To prepare the final seam, fold one side of the fabric over the batting and fold the other side of the fabric inwards, pinning it down along the way.

Step 7: Final Sewing Round

Sew about a 1/4" away from the edge, starting with the last side that was pinned (the open side) and work your way around. Fasten the end by doing a couple of backwards stitches. Cut the thread and you're done!
