Back in my high school days I made one almost exactly like this only it was PVC pipe and used dryer sheets instead of cotton / scented oil. It worked perfectly!

Find a gas mask at an Army surplus store. Make sure it has a new filter (the Israeli-made ones are common and work well) or just buy a pack of replacement filters since that's the part you need, not the mask. Sometimes they can be found for about $5 each, but that can vary a lot.
Blow all exhaled smoke through the filter; nothing but clean, odorless air comes out the other end. Some even have convenient screw-on caps to keep the end you blow through clean when you're not using it. I used to sell dozens of them to college students living in dorms (for a decent markup, of course) and they work for years (until graduation, possibly).

Even easier than this is an empty toilet paper roll with a dryer sheet stuffed in it
recyclebin says: May 15, 2011. 11:31 AM
i also just pack a hit at a time
recyclebin says: May 15, 2011. 11:30 AM
nice. i just rubbed deoderant on toilet paper, rolled it up and stuffed it in a tp tube but its easy to choke cause its hard to blow through.

get a longer tube and in between two layers of cotton stuff it with activated carbon (aquarium filter carbon is fine) for an effective filter.

Better off though just smoking outdoors.

yeah man, one night i was really high and i wanted to smoke more in my room and made this
AustralLord in reply to littlebastardNov 18, 2010. 10:52 PM
So you can smoke in a room without windows and there will be no stale smoke smell or anything leftover?!
LiquidLightning in reply to AustralLordMar 7, 2011. 12:02 AM
The smoke doesn't dissappear or entirely stop smelling. This just helps alot. So you need windows or air filter.

What was the lighter used for and why is the scented oil optional, isn't it necessary? How does this work? Is it like potpourri that just sits there or do you need to do something to use it?
littlebastard (author) in reply to JakeTobakSep 19, 2009. 10:05 AM
the lighter was to help cut the bottom out. it would work fine for blocking out smoke odors without the oil, the oil just makes it a little nicer
JakeTobak in reply to littlebastardSep 19, 2009. 11:20 AM
I'm still not sure how it works. Do you exhale through the tube to filter out the smoke?
littlebastard (author) in reply to JakeTobakSep 19, 2009. 11:27 AM
yeah, you inhale then blow the smoke out through the tube, it filters the smoke and lessens the smell, but the scented oil helps a little

pockatable version of the old dorm room trick. Toilet paper core, and dryer sheets. Makes your smoke downy fresh! :-) <-- also confused as to the requirements for the lighter in the equipment list.

makes your smoke downy fresh? that would be a great commercial lol (too bad billy mays is dead
littlebastard (author) in reply to ironsmiterSep 19, 2009. 5:36 PM
the lighter is to heat the knife when cutting the plastic from the bottom
JohnSalad says: Sep 19, 2009. 2:07 PM
This would be a great place to use the marijuana scented oil I found on eBay!

I'm just thinking out loud here but I'm thinking that may be counter productive. Most people use these to cover up the fact they are smoking cigarettes, I'm not sure covering a cig smell with a weed smell is going in the correct direction.

I can just see the conversation now.

Kid: No I swear I wasn't smoking cigarettes. It was weed I swear. I would never touch cigarettes they kill people.

Parent: Well I hope for your sake you were smoking weed. I swear if I find out It was cigarettes, there will be hell to pay.

Kid: It was weed, I swear on my life. Why won't you believe me, YOU NEVER BELIEVE ME, I hate you...

>>Kid runs off

First parent to second parent: You know I want to believe it was just weed, I really do, but you know how them kids today are trying cigarettes. Its not like in our day when we had to have ID's to get cigarrettes, they can get them anywhere now.

Second parent: I know honey be we have to trust him, if he says its just weed we should believe him, he really hasnt given us a reason not to trust him. And if you take a deep breath, it does smell like either northern lights or a nice sensimillia has been smoked in here.

First parent: you know now that you mention it it does smell like weed in here, good call. I'm Just so glad hes not messing with cigarettes I just dont know if i could have handled handle that.

Kid hiding around corner watching and laughing: under his breath, haha it worked. They will never know now that it was cigarettes... I am so smart, thank you JohnSalad and Instructables.com

Ok, now that I have seen it played out maybe it wasn't a bad idea at all. hehehehe
king kolton9 in reply to cammel8Sep 11, 2010. 1:59 PM
yea but the parents are two stupid to realize that pot is illeagel anyway lol
littlebastard (author) in reply to JohnSaladSep 19, 2009. 2:43 PM
nobody would think youre smoking then!
Asmodeous says: Apr 9, 2010. 9:52 AM
Ohhh, this is for smokers, tokers and midnight jokers. I got ya. I could have used this 20 years ago.
pyra_builder_1337 says: Dec 3, 2009. 6:04 PM
you could also use fabric sheets cut up instead of fluff and oils

this is just a mini jesus toobe but cool idea
Colonel88 says: Nov 12, 2009. 12:55 PM
"Now take about half of the aforementioned fluff and stuff it in the tube with your long skinny thing"

No offense, but

That's what she said.
art rebel in reply to Colonel88Nov 13, 2009. 7:16 PM

SurferGeek says: Sep 26, 2009. 3:20 PM

littlebastard (author) in reply to SurferGeekSep 27, 2009. 7:07 PM
