Two words...bottle brush. Get the brush from a hydration pack cleaning kit. They're long and handle corners well. Alternately, don't put anything except water in your bottles. That way, you won't need to clean them.

It's a water bottle; how difficult does it get to clean one?

Very difficult.

Apparently much more difficult than you would think.

problem is that when you try to stand up your bottle it will just fall over and be annoying... you should try and make a stand or something to it that doesn't obstruct drinking...melt some legs onto the cap maybe:P

Yes, clever idea...but... I really, really hate to rain on a parade, but having worked as a silicone tech for about ten years I am concerned about the use of regular silicone caulking here. You are consuming water that has been in contact with the silicone, and even thought that contact is miniscule you are going to have to make sure the product is safe for contact with foodstuffs. There ARE foodsafe silicones, but I doubt this is one of them.

Again, please don't accuse me of poo-pooing on a good idea, but my experience and education in this field tells me to raise a flag for safety. I *could* be wrong, in which case I will have learned something, too! Let's find out!

would it be easier to warm up bottle one with the torch and stretch it to fit over bottle two while it is pliable?

We tried that, but we could not get bottle one to stretch over the end of bottle two.
