Editing in Cube 2 pt. 1

Cube 2, is an open-source first person shooter game styled after Quake. Cube 2 however, sets itself apart with the built in level editor, not only that but it has real time multiplayer editing, the goal of this instructable, is to teach you to use this editor to make maps in Cube 2.
This first part will cover editing up to texturizing.

Step 1: Things needed

You don't need much to start mapping in cube 2, but here is what you need to start.

I'm not sure, I've never used the original cube but I assume it's similar

The original Cube does have an editor that works similar to this, but I personally find it a pain in the rear to work with in comparison to Cube 2. You're better off sticking with Cube 2.

I got cube 2 just for this purpose! btw how do you make water?

To make water, you make your selection like you would normally, but before you remove cubes. Hit f3 and select water, it'll replace that layer with water. Though for every layer of cubes you remove, you have to hit f3 and select water again, otherwise it's just a little bit of water over an empty space.

you can also type /water for water.

:o Thanks for pointing that out. You hit / or ~ then type savemap mapname.
So the command would look like /savemap test

i had cube once, but a short while after i got it, my computer had lots of viruses (i may be suspecting cube, never figured out the source) the computer got reformatted, and i continuously forgot the website for cube, the maps i made were nice, i figured out how to make a elevator, if you ever need help with that. anywho, great 'ible, easy to follow, 5*s

Well this is neat. I've played Cube2 before, but I haven't gotten a new version in forever, and I guess they have a new texture picker now, just like I wanted.
