Eee PC (or any Laptop) Case on the Cheap

 by XGundam05
Looking around Instructables, I've seen several inexpensive laptop cases/sleeves. These two instructables, Duct Tape Laptop Sleeve and Cardboard/Duct Tape Laptop Case inspired me to make my own.

Features:
Space for Eee PC (or Laptop of your choice)
Space for AC Adapter
Snazzy Duct Tape Finish

Step 1: Scrounge up some Material

This snazzy case uses the following materials:

Cardboard Enough to surround your laptop...and then some. Any box big enough should do.
Duct Tape The Force that holds the universe together...in any color(s) of your choice.
Foam Packing Sheet This will be used for the padding...bubblewrap might also work if done carefully.

And you'll probably want these tools too:

Razor/Box Cutter For cutting the cardboard...not your fingers.
Yard Stick Very useful for measuring things, though you could make due with a 12" scale.
Marking Implement Pen, Pencil, Marker, Quill, Charcoal Stick, etc.
Note: Scissors could probably be used in place of the Box Cutter

Oh, and a Laptop of some sort to put in when your finished...

(Sorry for the fuzzy pictures...I didn't find the 'Steadyshot' feature on the camera till later)

Pretty easily. I would just make a duct tape strap by taking two strips of duct tape, one being about an inch smaller than the other one, and put them together sticky sides facing each other. Be sure to leave a half-inch space on either side though. I'll try to make one and post an instructable on it.Good idea.

How easily do you think I would be able to convert this into a messenger bag?

This is pretty cool. Is that the same netbook as this? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9382946&st=eee+pc&lp=2&type=product&cp=1&id=1218095770391 Do you think that it is worth buying?

It's not quite the same Eee Pc. Mine has a 4 GB solid state hard drive and a dual core 1.6 GHz Atom processor I believe. (Not a %100 sure on the Atom part, but it is dual core). It also shipped with a horrible Linux distro. I removed that the first day and threw Ubuntu with Fluxbox on it. Works wonderfully, has great battery life, and plays Diablo II, so I'm happy with it. Can't say whether I can or cannot recommend the one you're looking at though.

I like the way you took the idea of the cushioned duct tape case in the instructable I made and added the sturdiness of cardboard AND the slot for cords, etc. Great idea.
