Step 3 Turn the bike upside down and remove the front wheel

This step may require a file but not always. Hub motor axles are keyed by 180 degree flats which should slip right into the front fork hanger slots. If they are measured in millimeters (around 10mm or 1cm between the flats) and the slots are in inches then the slots will have to be filed to accept the millimeter dimension. The axles must be tight and lock into the slots so watch how much metal you remove. If the axle is not locked in the slots after being inserted then the hangers will have to be welded to build up the steel and the slots recut and filed. Either that or another front fork or frame will have to be used.
