Introduction: Electric Slide

Step 1: 4 Side Steps to the Right

Take four side steps to your right, beginning with your right foot: step right, left together; step right, left together.

Take four side steps to your left, beginning with your left foot: step left, right together; step left, right together.

Step 3: 2 Steps to the Back

Take two steps to the back (remain facing forward), beginning with your right foot: back right, left together.

Step back onto your right foot. Tap your left foot in place.
Step forward onto your left foot. Tap your right foot in place behind you.
Step back onto your right foot. Tap your left foot in front of you.

Step 5: Pivot and Brush

Put your weight on your left foot and pivot 90 degrees to the left on your foot. At the same time that you pivot, brush your right foot into the air. When you land on your right foot, this will be the first side step of step number 1. You will now prepare to:

Step 6: REPEAT!!

Repeat (1) through (5) as many times as desired. Note: For each repetition, you will rotate 90 degrees to face a different wall.

There are many ways to perform the Electric Slide. As long as you follow the basic steps described above, you can add whatever style and savoir-faire you desire. Some people choose to alter (1) and (2) into a grapevine by passing the foot that closes under the body behind the standing foot. Other examples of adding your jazz include clapping or snapping at strategic moments. Don't be afraid to try adding something new.

The dance can also be performed with a group of friends by lining up side by side.
