Look at his hand in the photo - the most he's done is thump a cushion.

@kros5920 - use these in anger, your hand will be useless after one decent blow - the tape will split, tangling your hands, and the rings will slash the skin of every finger to the bone.

Now now, the tape is a nice design feature. It will keep the pieces of his hand together in one place for the paramedics/surgeons. :)

I've seen a few broken fingers/thumbs and it's got to be one of the most horrible ways to hurt yourself. Surgery, metal pins and plates and very often you will *never* regain full mobility in the broken digits. If you like making things, NOT breaking your fingers should be #1 on your list of things to do.

The reason "brass knuckles" are made of brass or steel or some other strong metal is primarily to add weight, and cause more damage to the thing you're hitting, but also so that when you punch something, the knuckles don't collapse in on your fingers and break them into tiny pieces.

... and the reason they have a frame in the palm is to transfer the impact to the arm via the palm and wrist.
