insomartin, is there any possibility to change your tutorial and make clear the circuit only works with common ground ? The "ANY controller" part is misleading in the instructable. I'm off to buy another controller now ....

says:
the 4066 will work on ANY controller. since it's only a digital switch. much like the rubber pads/switch on any controller. i tried it on multiple console ps,xbox,wii,and pc joystick. and it will work. you need to find the supply ground and the "button ground"

Not all buttons have necessarily the same ground, you know

i know. SEE STEP 3. DARK green - Signal Ground BLACK - USB Ground... and "most" of the controllers people here showed me is directly connected to USB ground. "IF" unlucky you have one that has a separate ground... see my disclaimer.

Today, I connected the controller PCB to your circuit. The 4066 gets hot quite quickly, the other IC stays cold. I installed just one piezo and the corresponding pot (in other words, 3 pots and their piezos are left off, all diodes, resistors, caps are installed with correct polarity), is that OK for testing ? Hitting the piezo registers 4 inputs (they register after like 10 seconds and stay on, until I unplug the game controller PCB). I checked the circuit and didn't find any obvious mistake (shorts in particular), that the circuit is fed correctly. Does anyone suggest anything next ?

thanks for building the e-drum. you should try it first with a breadboard and experiment on how the circuit works. there is an OPTIONAL 1mohm resistor in STEP 3. click on the "i" on the top right to see it clearly. that will drain the capacitor c1-c4 faster. some 4066 drains more current.

says:
I tracked down one source of problem: the inputs GND and the USB GND are not connected on the circuit. After using a wire to address the issue, the 4066 isn't hot anymore. However, the inputs are registered randomly, perhaps because the lack of pots on some piezo inputs is creating a lot of noise on the rest of the circuit. I'll solder the remaining components asap and see what's happening (and report back here of course).

yung isa is GROUND common yun sa lahat nang buttons sa game pad. connected yung sa BLACK wire on STEP 3. the rest is SIGNAL.

may circuit c insaneGenius pinagusapan namin (dito mismo sa comments) gamit nya is XBOX controller. analog kasi yung buttons.

saka ano undg values nung
D1 = ?
C1 = ?
saka ung transistor saan ung papuntang ground saka ung papuntang signal walang naka indicate?
thanks tol!!!

says:
no. walang windows driver for ps2. even yung connector mahirap maghanap. they are too proprietary @*@)#@#*!)(... bottom line. invest kna lang for roland, yamaha, boss, or alesis na DM. tapos ikaw na lang gumawa nang PADS using piezo thingy. may MIDI (JOYSTICK) or Serial or (USB (RARE)) yung dm. for fun. pwede ka gumawa nang dm for ps2 CONSOLE. roc bnd!!!

tol tama ka nasearch ko din na walang driver ung ps2 controller for windo...thanks tol!! ano nanaman ung drum machine for ps2 console?ung roc band na sinasabi mo? meron kasi ako ps2 hindi ko na ginagamit gusto ko i try ung sisasabi mo.... thanks pare!!!

i don't sell piezo. it's readily available on alexan or any electronics store. just ask for piezo speakers. or ceramic transducer.

hello friend, thank you very much for your project, is very well done, I'm riding but I have some doubts, I want to make 8 drums without cymbals or pedals. 1) In connection 4066 do not understand where I connect the outputs? 2) Where to connect the negative terminal of the SW? Thanks

you have to click on "i" on the corner right of the image to see the connections better.

you can map it on rejoice but it's better to use a xbox controller. since it's a digital dm not analog.
Digital = LAME
Analog = Damn Realistic Drum Machine.
check InsaneGenius's COMMENTS about using this kind of controller.

ok heres what id do 1. Make this, looks nice 2. download fl studio demo, free 3. get Joytokey, lets joystick inputs become keystrokes 4. Go into fl slayer, inside fl studio 5. assign drum pads to keys 6. thats basically it

Hey, could anybody help me out? I made the circuit and it works...somewhat. It responds to the peizo, but the switch stays closed for up to a second before opening up again. Any ideas on what's going wrong? Thanks.

i had the same problem like u..... you have to take a look at step3 . on the bottom u will see 4 1meg ohm resistors. An orange line and a smily point to them. Sometimes you need these resistors sometimes you dont. Just try it with them and let me know if it works. Cause i have the same problem like you BUT if i use these 1meg resistors or even 3meg or just 75 the whole thing become extremely insensitive. I have to strike with full force an my pad to trigger the button. without the resistor it is sensitive as i want it but the button is pressed 3secs.

i have read in an older comment from insomartin that you have to use a ceramic condensator.... well i have a "Wima MKS4" which use a Polyester film as dielectricum. Do you think my problem comes from the condensator? and when yes then why make this a difference?

3 Philippine pesos = 0.062034 U.S. dollars

Both yes you can change the pot' but i don't think adding a 120k is a good idea. 1k (brown black red) should work fine. or short it instead (add a jumper).

I have a question... Is the code of the capacitor that you used 104 or 102? Because if it is 102 the value of the capacitor is 1nf... not 100nf I made the PCB and connect all the components but it doesn't work... I don't know why : ( ... The IC's that I use were "goldstar GD4066B" and "7DYJKKE LM324N" Can you give me a hand plzz? Sorry for my english, I'm from Argentina.
