Hey there everyone.
FIRST:
I never ever worked with Wood... NEVER.
That means if i finished this work, you may do it better.

I finished Elucidator and started Dark Repulsor, just need some Paint and little grind here and there.
It looks very well!

Maybe i can do a full Cosplay :)
I just really the EASIEST and FASTEST Way to do it.
Hope u'll enjoy this one.

REMEMBER!
With with Instruction, you can easily do EVERY "non-Round" Sword you want :)

Step 1: Dimensions Aka. Measurements

So.
How big should your Sword be?
Kiritos height is about 172 cm.
and his Swords about 130 cm.

If you want the Swords perfect fits your height:
130/172 = 0.75581395348

for every 1cm of your OWN Height, add 0,75 cm for the Sword.

If your 1m tall (I bet this Personen exist :D) your sword would be 75 cm.

1,5 m would mean a 112.5cm Sword.

My Sword is about 132cm.
Guess my Height ;D

Step 2: Drawing and Cutting (simply)

For this step, you have two Options:

Drawing the Sword on Wood (If your good in Drawing) Thats the fastest Way.
or Print it out, cut it out and draw the shape.

I used the first one.
And then simply cut it out with whatever you like.
It should look like this in the Picture.

(Sry, i dont have Pictures of this Step, but its very simple)

Step 3: Add Third Dimension.

So, we cut out the Sword.
We need the 3D of it.

Can you Remember how it look like?
Right.

Draw it like you drew the Sword and just Glue it over where it belongs.

Step 4: Rasping = Nearly Finished!

Simple and Time taking:

Just Rasp the edges off your Sword so its get "sharp".

Rasp it like you're happy with it.

BUT(T)!!!!
Dont forget:
Less is more!
If you rasped too much, you can just recue it with trowel.
I recommend to rasp a little less then needed.

Step 5: Just Paint and Your Finished!

First off, i know my Instructions looks kindish and too simple, but thats the way i did it.
In most cases, im more Creative then my Friends, so i need more steps and time to make the same i did.
But its pretty simple.

And i think its look Awesome!

I used just Black and Grey Coating.

Step 6: Finished My Project

HOLD ON!
We can add i little bit for the Handle.
I wrapped Isolation Tape around it...

Yeah, this is kinda Simple.

There you can see my Elucidator and "Dark Repulsor is made in the EXACT same Way!
BOTH Swords has the same length.

Step 7: Thank You and Enjoy!

I hope i helped someone with this Instructions.

This was my first ever :)

Leave a Comment and Enjoy.

Hi, I'm magness and I just signed up and as I was strolling through I saw your pic and I thank that ur SAO sword is really, really, awesome.

Thank you!
It was my first Project :D

So how easy was this? I really interested in this, (I love SAO) so I wanted to know if this was cheap, and or easy. and also if I wanted to make them shorter how would I?

The only Costs you have is the Wood and the Colors, so its quiet cheat.
I made Dark Repulsor out of Wood I found on the street, so its completly your choice.
Just keep in Mind that you need Clear or painted lacquer for finish.

About the size:
If you want to make it slightly short er, keep the other Dimensions.
But if you want to make a miniature Version, short en everything in percent.
So if you shorten the lenght by 50%, do the same to the width and thickness.

thx

About how hard this instructable is:
You just cut out 3 Blocks and glue them together.
Grinding and simply cut diagonal for the blade.
AND color.

I think its fairly easy.

The problem is that this instructable gave me essentially no information, other than make sword.

Oh gosh, I already saw at commenzed long ago, im sry!
I neber saw your comment.
Yes, because you dont need more.
You can use any wood you want and any color.
Be free at your choice (:

The Main Problem was: I decided to make an Intructable, nearly at the end of the Project.

And also i got no essential Information for myself.
I just used any Wood i got, Dark Repulsor is made from Wood i found on the Streets xD

You dont need more Informations.
It IS really that easy.

Wait, how big should the blade and handle (seperately) be if youre 154 cm

115,5 cm

Just use my mathematics at the top :)
Thank you for this!!! Our Adtech project in school is to cut any weapon from plywood. I chose Kirito's elucidator for mine. I have high hopes for my project. :D. I'm going to add a picture if I managed to do it.

only revcomendation I have is on the black sword, paint it black first then put silver trim. It makes it neater, its easier to make a border than to only exclude the border while painting

Im 152.4 how long should mine be

Did you already made one?

If not: 152,4*0,75 = 114,3cm

How sturdy is it ( meaning can it be used for fighting or is it more of a cosplay material?)

Woah, i would never believe that i got that much views.
It depends on your Material.
So it could used for fighting if you choose a solid Material.

I made a sword, but it's really big and the blade is really large... But that cool !
Idk if this helps but my sword length is 49.5 blade-35.6 hilt+butt-14.9 blade width- 2.6 hilt width-2.2 butt width-2.4 butt length-2.0 and how thick the blade should be is 1.0(all in inches BTW and I'm 175 cm tall).

Shoud be like 131.25 total lenght for your height :|

Sorry for Doublepost ^^' One Question, you dont happen to be German? :D

I think i spider! Just kidding.

OK, it happened, im German.
Let me Guess: Bad english with "german" mistakes?

(Und mit diesen Worten: Hallo Chris, alles gut bei dir? ^_^)
No, it was your name xD

(Ja alles gut und bei dir? ^^ mein elucidator ist auch bald fertig *-*

Post a Pic of it! It would be a pleasure! :D

(Hammer ^^)

I also am making a custom sheath
I'm 175 cm

my height is 167cm what should be the length of mt elucidator?

for every 1cm of your height, simply add 0.75 cm for the sword :)

Im exactly the same size as Kirito, so finding the size wont be a problem ^^ But 130cm sounds really huge o:

Believe me, i thought exactly the same xD

i am 1m and 66cm....how much would the length be for an elucidator or a dark repulsor ??

I dont know the Dimensions by Heart, but look at the "Dimensions" site and do some Math :P
Dark Repulsor and Elucidator are the same size.

i'm 133 cm what would the size of Elucidator and Dark Repulsor be for the sword and hilt. Also, should i put a coat of Fiberglass on the swords?

it would be 99.75 cm

@AlexanderW Thanks, wie got a Math genius over here. Or at least someone who knows where to look :P

@The-Fatal-Scythe You actually CAN put Fiberglass on it.
But thats all optional.
If you want my opinion: do it.
Fiberglass is always good, just put a thin coat.

Mine will be 136.5 cm

How thick is the wood (the blade, the handle, the hilt, and the 3D part to be exact)? And how thick of a piece of wood should I get to make it?

The Blade, Hilt and the Handle are made oft one Part.
2cm should be OK.
The "3D" Part should be ½ oft your chosen Bladethickness. In my part 1cm.

How long is the blade suppose to be?

Depends on your own lenght.
Everythibg is the steps.

Search for Dimensions, should be somewhere at the beginning :)

Okay, I don't see dimensions anywhere on here. :/

Hight*

This is great for a first project with wood. I only have done it afew times and I have never air brushed it but a great way to add a good look to the blade is to spray paint it. The only thing you have to watch out for with spray paint is that you do it evenly so it does not streak, but if you mess it up like that you can always go over it again

I forgot to add you can use matalic spray paint, it adds a shine to the wood that makes it look more like metal

Great Job, love it.

what kind of wood did you use? personally I would use 3/4in pine Plywood.

Thank you for your Comment :D

I used 3/4in beechwood.
Plywood is a lot more expensive and beechwood is a bit heavier, so it really feels like you have something in your Hand.

Great first time out with a woodworking project! Masking tape and spray paint will leave the finish looking a bit nicer than brushwork. Nice job.

Thank you for your Comment :D
I plan to work with a Airbrush Painter, but i dont know a good and low priced one.
Anything you can recommend to me?

i would look around online. you can find a decent set for about $100
