Introduction: Enable or Disable USB Ports Without Any Software.

About: I'm crazy about inventing new things..... and thanks a lot to instructables website which helped me to share my ideas...

Hello friends !

Today we are going to disable and enable all usb ports.....

The more important thing is that you need not to download any software....

You can do it yourself....

Step 1: Open the Registry Editor

To do this we all gonna need is "registry editor"....

To open "registry editor".....

Just hit windows logo + r

Then "Run" window appears

Then type "regedit" in it...

Then regestry editor appears....

Step 2: Registry Editor

intro to registry editor:-

Windows Registry is a hierarchical database that stores configuration settings and options on Microsoft Windows operating systems....

Registry editor is a tool which is used to change the windows registry configuration settings and options...

If you wanna know more about registry editor you can search in internet......

Ok lets come back into the topic:-

Then navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBSTOR

Right click on the USBSTOR and select theexport then save it as usb_enabler.

After that in the right pane as shown in the figure right click on the start file and select modify then change 3 to 4.

Then again right click on the USBSTOR and click on the export then save it as usb_disabler.

Step 3: How to Use It !

ok now you have two files one is usb_enabler and other is usb_disabler......

already your USB ports are enabled.....If you wanna disable it just double click on the usb_disabler file ................

then it asks for confirmation to add or not.....just clickok..ok..ok....

Now your USB ports have disabled...

If you wanna re-enable it you just do the same process with usb_enabler file....

Step 4: How It Works !

When you export the registry file.....it creates a file with all the settings and configuration options....that means we are creating a backup...

here we can observe that first we have exported a normal file with normal setting i.e start file has a value 3...which makes usb ports enable..(normally we can see the value of 3 that means the normal setting is to enable the usb ports.)....

after that we have change the start file value to "4"...which makes the usb ports disable...and we have exported a another file with changed setting...

So it depends on us which file to add to the registry to make the usb ports enable or disable.... :-)

...............................................Thank you..........................................................
