video Episode 23: The Self-Cleaning Monitor
Are you tired of having to clean your monitor when it gets dirty or dusty?

Well we here at Stupid Inventions sure are tired of it, which is why we invented The Self-Cleaning Monitor!

Just turn it on, and a cleaning cloth will automatically wipe your computer screen for you!

oh, just get a windshield wiper off an old car and you're set, sheesh
masterochicken in reply to Scott_TxOct 14, 2009. 1:06 PM
But that wouldn't be as ridiculous, and there fore nowhere near asmuch fun.
StupidInventions (author) in reply to masterochickenOct 14, 2009. 7:49 PM
scott, that would probably work, but would also make me way over budget(i try not to spend more than $10 per invention...)

ha, exactly masterochicken! glad you have the Stupid Invention spirit!

Agree too. Without any explanation or view of the mechanism, it looks fake - retouched.
FYI: This site is called 'instructables', you know with 'instruct'... not 'idea'

StupidInventions (author) in reply to ycc2106Oct 14, 2009. 5:52 AM
As I said before, making instructables are hard.... so I only go to thetrouble when I feel an invention is overly complicated... since most ofthe invention is based on something store-bought and pre-made, I didntfeel the need for an instructable.

FYI: When you click on the submit button, you have different options ofwhat to submit. There's "Instructable" and also "Video".
"What kind of videos can I post?

If you watch some of his other videos there isn't always an explanation to how it was created, though it would be nice.

Mariachi music always make me smile

StupidInventions (author) in reply to mikeasaurusOct 13, 2009. 7:39 PM
Thanks for all the interest in how I made this invention!

I apologize for not posting detailed instructions, it's annoying to make them, so I only do it when I feel a Stupid Invention had a complicated instruction....

Most of this inventions was taking from a set of USB powered "Woot Off Lights" I got from woot.com. I took it apart, disabled the light, and basically just kept the spinning motor. I then tied the piece of screen cleaning fabric to it and that was pretty much it...

If you have any more questions feel free to ask!

and yes, you gotta love Mariachi music! :)
