I found it neccesary (don't ask me why) to have a commodore 64 communicate with addons via ethernet. I won't reveal how I was able to convert the commodore's CIA to IEEE 802.3, but I will say that communications between the floppy and C64 are magnitudes faster.

googfan, at the very least you should tell us how you did it. No diagrams needed. Just tell us. This is going against the whole idea of instructables.

Why make an instructable when you don't give instructions to anything?

Right, but a slide show demonstrates the basics of how something works or was created....this does NEITHER. So, either you can't do this (since there isn't even a video on it), which is of course most likely, or you just like to play around with photoshop or the Gimp.

Presumably this is impressive, but the shan't tell how attitude is against the spirit of the site.

Not impressed, googfan.

I highly doubt that this works. I'm not saying that its not possible but the likelihood is that if you did do it, you'd be proud to explain and show how.

Maybe i'll put up an instructable where I hook up an orange to a pineapple with ethernet.. Better still, I'll use bluetooth.. Wont explain how it "works" though! You'll just have to look at the photo's that show I'm super cool!

Really. It's Instructables not Braggables That's what the photo sites are for.

I'm not gonna ask you why you did it or how! This most likely the most useless endevour I have seen recently! Why even bother?

I guess in these times we all have a bit too much time on our hands! SH!t Like this keeps the brain moving!

Googfan Looks to me like you have replaced the commodore sockets with rj45 sockets and used a network cable, big deal! If not prove it with circuit diagrams, the rom images and Picture's of inside the drive and c64. www.c64web.com a real commodore 64 web-server.

"I won't reveal how I was able to convert the commodore's CIA to IEEE 802.3" That's kind of the point of this website. I would be interested to know what you did.

I draped a couple wires out of my toilet and call it a time machine. Maybe I'll post the slideshow.

Hey, i do have an CP200 that runs with DVD-RW, Ethernet Gigabit, Bluetooth and Wireless!!! It is true! I do not have any photos, nor i will teach how to do it, but it´s working! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Take it serious! If the site is for instructables, take your slideshow anywere else!
Jan 20, 2009. 7:56 PMabzman2000 says:
did you just change the connector and use higher quality (ethernet) cable?
Jan 21, 2009. 2:46 AMfritsie123 says:
Probably a modified version of SpeedDOS or DolphinDOS. These use 8-bit connections, but perhaps you only use 4 bits?

Ditto to what krest said. This site is to show people how to do stuff, not to say "Look what i did! I bet you don't know how to do it!"
