Step 1: Material
Cake Mix - Any Flavor (eggs, oil and water)
Red Gel Icing
1 Can Strawberry Icing
Butter Cream Frosting
2 Drops Red food coloring
1 Cup Butter
2 Tablespoons Milk
3 Cups Powder Sugar
Fruit by the Foot (approx 4 rolls)
Step 2: Bake the Cakes
1 Round Cake - 8"
1 Round Cake - 6"
Let cool then Cut a narrow crescent shape off the bigger cake.
Put the bigger cake now on a cake plate.
Use the strawberry icing to "glue" the smaller cake on top of the bigger cake.
This is the messy part... slather on the strawberry icing into the seams between the two cakes and over the entire thing. You will get crumbs mixed in during the process but it is okay.
Step 3: Eyes Mouth Teeth
Dye some smaller balls for the iris
and even smaller ones for the pupils (for black I had to use candy melt coloring) Or you can stick on an M&M for the pupil
I rolled some long bits of red gum paste for the blood vessels in the eye. Kind of smooth all of that on to your white eye ball. Then stick a toothpick in the back of each one and set aside.
For the mouth I mixed up two pink rolls and them made some sockets on each one and put in some white gumpaste teeth.
Do the same here just put tooth picks in the back and set aside.
Step 4: Brain
1 Cup Softened butter
Then slowly add the milk and powdered sugar (more or less for consistency) then the red food coloring.
Mix until it's smooth and pink.
Put this into a gallon ziplock bag and cut a hole in a corner of the bag. Pipe this ontop of the cake using like a curly que pattern. Go ahead and overlap.
You can go ahead and place your eyes and upper and lower teeth pieces.
Step 5: Skin
Place long strips of fruit by the foot all over this guys face.
Step 6: Finish Up
I shoved a little scrap piece of cake in his mouth to add some contrast.
Then drizzle on the red gel icing in the brain folds or anywhere else you think he may need some extra blood.
Serve it up and let your guests enjoy!
