Picture of Explosive rounds for your BB or pellet gun!
This is my first instructable. Hope you like it! I know I do...

My dad once told me how to shoot explosive rounds from my BB/pellet gun. I was amazed to see how well it worked, and I finally have a chance to show it off. First of all: DON'T BE DUMB AND BURN SOMETHING DOWN!!!! If you do, I am not liable. It shouldn't happen as long as your careful.

Anyway, lets get to the fun stuff...

Step 1: Get some strike anywhere matches.

Picture of Get some strike anywhere matches.
Just get some strike anywhere matches. I got 250 of 'em at Vons really cheap.

Step 2: Get your matches out, and get your BB/pellet gun out.

This instructable won't work if you don't have strike anywhere matches. To see if you truly have a strike anywhere match, it should have a differently-colored tip from the rest of the match. Mine are red with a white tip.

Step 3: Put the match in the BB/pellet gun.

Picture of put the match in the BB/pellet gun.
Put the match in the BB/pellet gun and make sure the tip is facing outwards, like in the image.

Air guns do not have a firing pin. Rather, they have a piston that compresses air. There is no need for a firing pin, since the round, in this case pellets or bbs, do not have a primer and a flammable substance (gun powder) to shoot the projectile.

The matches will fly straight over a fairly long distance if you whittle the stick down.

you mentioned with a single pump rifle it could cause damage to the gun. I just thought of a solution for a pellet gun. You could cut the tip off of a match and put it inside of a hollow tip pellet and load it normally. If you are using a lead pellet, the pellet's tip will be crushed and it will crush the match tip and set it off.
That one Eegit: it would be safe to use since co2 is not flammable but like this ible said it can and most likely will ruin your barrel over time. And who ever decides to do this the match can get stuck in your barrel also, then you would have a useless BB gun.

Only if you have a low FPS gun. And what is damagina about it?

I have the same gun as you
i don't have a bb gun but i do have an airsoft gun. thanks for the idea
an airsoft gun is a bb gun, an airsoft gun shoots plastic or metal bb's, it doesnt have to be metal bb's to be a bb gun.
Au contraire, A bb is a Ball Bearing. Ball Bearings are made of metal. An airsoft gun is not a bb gun, its a toy. You can not kill a rabbit, squirrel, mouse, etc with a airsoft gun! Unless I guess you can get close enough to bash it with the gun itself.

Thats not a bb gun, this is a bb gun...http://www.instructables.com/id/BB-Machine-GunNOT-AIRSOFT!!!!!/
bb means ballistic bullet, or a small, cheap, not-so-dangerous bullet replacement for target practice.
supercoke, i believe you have been mislead. if you took, perhaps, three seconds to consider the words "ballistic bullet" you would realize that it is a very redundant set of words. bullets are ballistic, otherwise, if they were explosive, well, first off, civilians in the united states are not permitted to own explosive bullets. ballistic bullet is a term so redundant, it is obviously not the true meaning of BB.

lanman, i side with you on this arguement, BB is an acronym that represents the words Ball Bearing.
MOd up ur airsoft gun. Mine fires at over 900 fps!
What do you mean mod up?
make an ible' please
just so u know, BB was actually the size of the rounds they used to use, the also had B and BBB, but BB was the most common so that was just adopted as the name. BB does not stand for ball bearing
Believe what you will...
HAHA thats funny " An airsoft gun is not a bb gun, ITS A TOY haha. You can not kill a rabbit, squirrel, mouse, etc with a airsoft gun! Unless I guess you can get close enough to bash it with the gun itself."
ive killed some lizards withh an air soft gun... and im not talking about the gieko lizard... im talking about a 13 inch lizard(with tail)

I agree with you about the not being a bb gun part but my friend killed a snake by shooting the snake in the head at a 10 foot range

not always true my airsoft gun killed a bird and mouse from about 10 feet away you just have to shoot it in the head or eye.
I've killed a sparrow with a walther p22 airsoft pistol.
You must be proud.... You're a terrible person.
not if he uses the dead squirell for something, like a hat. actually, it would probably be best to keep the squirell population down a bit, anyway.
We gots a few hawks. No squirrels, or they dont last long, without bbs
I agree with CapnTac! thats Horrid!
No way. I have the same gun, and there's no way it could kill a sparrow.
I was about 15 feet away.
That's not something to be proud of in my opinion.
now try killing jack sparrow with your damn wather

my airsoft sniper shoots metal 6mm airsoft bbs at 700 fps? can i kill a rabbit with that, apparently not
ive killed a rabbit with less so it should work u just need to be close
(removed by author or community request)
my brother has an airsoft rifle that could quite possibly kill a squirral though i have not tested that as my mom would be annoyed if dead squirrels started showing up all over our yard
just because everybody's discussing I wanna join... hello everyone.. :-) i think that: airrifles fire led,tin or copper bolts and they are 4,5mm in diameter airsoftguns fire plastic BB that's 6,6mm in diameter
i have a air rifle, and it's true that it fires lead pellets however. it is a .22 i.e. the pellets are 2.2millimeters is diameter you can even get .177 which means the pellets are 1.77 millimeters in diameter. that's how it is in the uk just thought i'd say
