Here is a fun sewing project that anyone can do.
Make yourself an glasses case to protect your specs!

You’ll need:
9″ by 9" piece of fabric. (I used embroidered linen.)
8.5" by 8.5" piece of fabric for the lining
9" by 9" piece of thin cotton batting
Needle, thread, pins.

Step 1: Pin the outer fabric and the cotton batting together.  Sew the two layers together, using vertical lines spaced about 1 inch apart.

Can't wait to try this! My Daughter and I love to sew together, and this is a perfect project for us:)

Really nice, I like the fabric you chose. But I want to know how did you embroidered the glasses? Thanks

I just did it by hand with a needle and some embroidery thread. The thread I buy is pretty thick, six strands twisted together.

I just googled "sunglasses coloring pages," picked the one I liked best, printed it out at the size that I wanted and cut them out. I applied applique adhesive (can be found at JoAnns Fabrics) to the back of the yellow fabric and the gold fabric I used for the lens. I then pinned the sunglasses cut out to the yellow fabric and cut it out, and then cut out the lens in the gold fabric. Next, I ironed the design on the fabric. (I did this after I sewed the batting onto the outer fabric and before sewing the lining to it) The last thing I do for appliques is to make small stitches with colored embroidery thread around the edges to make sure it doesn't peel off. Here is a close up picture of the stitching.

Hope this is a good explanation!

Thanks! Your pic helped a lot! I really love the fabrics you chose. When I'm done I'll put a pic here too. I live in Brazil, and I've never seen this applique adhesive in the craft's stores here but I just used regular white glue and it worked just as fine.

I definitely want to see when you get done!

Here are the two I've made. I even added magnets inside the lining on the second one to keep it closed. Thanks for your wonderful tutorial!

U can still use it even tho u only have 1 pair. U can store them there @ nite when u take them off 2 go 2 sleep. My nite stand usually gets cluttered up & a case usually keeps them clean & safe from gettin scratched :-)
