Introduction: FREE NATURAL WOOD CHIPS FOR LANDSCAPING

About: I am married with two children. Spring, summer, and fall are my very favorite times of the year. I enjoy working in the yard, sewing, cooking, quilting, gardening, and creating. I do this to keep my sanity.

If you live in an area where people do not use bark dust you can go to a saw mill and get free bark chips and use them in your landscaping.  If people are using bark dust there is a high demand for wood chips so then they charge for them.  Here is our pile of wood chips we will be using for walk ways to cut down on weeds.  It really works well and it also cuts down on mud.  It works well for dirt drive ways also.  This is a good thing to use for mulching the garden as well but I would recommend the smaller chips or saw dust because it takes a while to decompose.

RAKE

Step 2: SPREAD OUT THE CHIPS IN DRIVEWAY OR WALK WAYS

Once your walk ways or driveway is ready for wood chips shovel it out and spread it over the walk way and level it the best you can with a rake.    See picture.  My husband used railwood ties for our raised flower beds.

Step 3: ANOTHER OPTION FOR WALK WAYS

Another option for walk ways is rolled roofing.  It keeps the weeds down and your feet dry.  My neighbor was going to throw this old roofing away and I suggested she use it in front of her travel trailer door for a door mat.  It has worked very well.  You just lay the pieces out and overlap them on a sunny warm day and the heat from the sun melts them together.  I have seen where people have use this for their drive ways as well.  See picture.
