Is there anything worse than going to the bathroom only to find you forgot to check if there was any toilet paper?  There is Now!

I made a fake roll of toilet paper out of cardboard, and inserted a removable prank message for that moment of truth when your victim realizes that no salvation will come from that little white roll.  I can't wait to get my little brothers with this guy!

Happy Pranking!  And remember to vote for your favorite pranks starting April 3rd!

Disclaimer: This little roll of paper can be a powerful and day ruining little prank if used maliciously, so I suggest that care be taken when setting up where and on whom it will be used.  Don't bring it to the mall and replace it for a real roll.  Don't use it on your grandma.  Don't be mean.  April 1st should be fun day.  ;)

Step 1: Gather your props

The picture above shows the types of materials you'll need to make this.  [Pic.1]

an empty toilet paper roll tube
a full roll of the paper you want to clone
a source of cardboard (cereal box, etc.)
glue stick (or double-sided tape)
scotch tape
scissors or exacto-knife

Also, about an hour of time and a victim with a sense of humor.

For the ends of my TP roll I didn't want it to just look like a disc of white paper, so I made a Word document with images that simulate the ends of a real roll of TP to print off and cut out.  [Pic. 2] shows a printed example.

I did this last year and got the whole family on April Fools day. Brought it back out in the summer and got my grandson when he was in town for a visit. Haven't gotten it out today yet, I know my youngest son is just waiting for it. going to let him think I forgot about it and then get him. Thanks for a great and easy prank that just keeps giving!!

You COULD have a wad of toilet paper attached to the end of the pull-out sign. So they think, DOH! NO PAPER!... but as they pull it out they find some... /phew

Thanks for the great prank and instructions. I made one and got my spouse really good at 400am today! I'll attach pics of mine. I used TP and a glue stick on the ends to camoflage the cardbord. In the pictures one roll is real and the other is the prank. Fun trick, and reusable. It is easy to glue stick of more TP on the prank roll if the prankee rolls it off at discovery.

You know, I was almost going to do this and plant it in my little sisters' bathroom... Then I saw the "jerk-ish older brother".

I think I'm going to anyways, this is hilarious.
alexsparrow says: Mar 31, 2011. 7:07 PM
you should try putting the end of a torn sheet of tp about 1 millimeter off the end

.docx file? Oh f***!
Could you please reupload it in .doc (Word 97-2003 file)?
I only have licensed Office 2000 and don't want to install cracked software.

Microsoft puts out a viewer for your scenario: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=3657ce88-7cfa-457a-9aec-f4f827f20cac&displaylang=en
nwlaurie says: Mar 31, 2011. 10:26 AM
if you go to Microsoft.com and type in 'Word 2000 compatibility' then you get taken to a totally legal Microsoft upgrade allowing versions back to (at least) Office 2000 to read nd create the new, post-2007 formats.
syco123 says: Mar 31, 2011. 12:50 PM
Or just save as .doc and keep everyone happy. Just sayin.

Open Office, star office, Abiword etc all use .doc just fine (and all cost $0).

why not open it in google docs or hotmail documents?
blodefood says: Mar 31, 2011. 7:54 AM
Or Open Office. It's free.
app0 says: Mar 31, 2011. 7:09 AM
I don't have a printer at home and internet at work, so I need to be able to open the file locally.
ATTILAtheHUNgry (author) says: Mar 28, 2011. 4:45 PM
Certainly. Your will be done!
app0 says: Mar 28, 2011. 8:07 PM

Also, there is a free "Word Viewer" (at bottom of the link) you might use, if you don't have Office at all.
KarlGG says: Mar 28, 2011. 12:12 PM
There is a patch you can download from Microsoft to let it read newer formats. It won't be able to do anything fancy from the new types, but normal stuff should load fine.
app0 says: Mar 28, 2011. 8:06 PM
Huge Thanks!
Mac -> WinXP SP2 licensed -> Word 2000 + patch = great! And still no cracked software!
Ricardo Furioso says: Mar 31, 2011. 6:04 PM
Or you could get a Macintosh and stop all this silliness. You have hijacked a very funny and cruel idea with a dozen nerdy comments. Stop it.
nicolasgoddone says: Mar 31, 2011. 12:48 PM
Oh.... so cruel :).
Really like!

Great Instructable!! So Diabolical Bwahahahaha!!
blodefood says: Mar 31, 2011. 7:56 AM
Strongly suggest you keep a stash of the real stuff next to the toilet. That way your victim will not reciprocate with something nasty.

Прикольно! Нужно будет попробывать!
baneat says: Mar 30, 2011. 7:18 AM
Can you spare one square?

problem being that you've given the victim at least 3 to work with :(
