Hello, I want to share you this recipe with you. In my garden we have several trees, one of them is a fig tree, we have also a pomegranate tree, a peach tree, a plum tree and a pear tree. So, this is fig season, and we harvest a lot of them, but sometimes they mature quickly that they get rotten. So I decided to create a tasty recipe with this figs.
Step 1: Gather Ingredients
This are some of the figs I harvested and I gathered some other ingredients to prepare this dessert:
- raisins (you can also use cranberries)
- sunflower seeds (You can use nuts or almonds)
- cinnamon powder
- cinnamon powder
Step 2: Chop the Figs
You'll need to chop the figs into thin slices because later you are going to cook them. The thinner the slices, the quicker they're going to be cooked. Be careful to cut only the mature figs, because they are the ones that contain more sugar and they are tastier.
Step 3: Cook the Figs
The next thing you're going to do is to cook all the jam ingredients. So you are going to mix the figs, the raisins, the nuts and the cinnamon together. Be careful not to use a lot of cinnamon. Also as I mentioned, if you used the mature figs, you are not going to need to pour any extra sugar because they have their own sugar.
You'll need to move constantly the mixture, and you'll have to wait until the mixture gets darker. Don't worry if they seem burned, that's the point. When the sugar contained in the figs is burned takes an special flavor, and it's going to make our recipe unique.
Step 4: Pour the Dry Ingredients Together.
We're going to mix all the dry ingredientes because in the next step we will pour some honey to create the bars.
Step 5: Form the Bars
After all the dry ingredients are perfectly mixed you'll need to pour only two spoons of honey and mix them perfectly to create a moldable mixture.
Step 6: Create the Bites
In this case I decided to use cookie cutters to make flower and heart shaped snacks.
Step 7: Serve the Bites With the Fig Jam
Once I created amaranth cubes as possible with the amount of mixture available, I put a layer of jam between two amaranth cubes and decorated with chocolate and fresh figs.
