This is my first instructable so don't judge my typing skills. But this is a cannon that will shoot anything that fits in its barrel with only a firecracker.

Step 1: Gather Materials and Tools

You need the following materials,
1. One inch pressure rated PVC pipe
2.empty 12 gauge shell
3.fire crackers
4. Super glue
5. Lighter

You also need the following tools,
1. Screw driver to remove the primer from the shell
2. Dremel or somthing to cut the pipe with
3. Tape measure
4. Hammer

Step 2: Punch Out Primer

Use the screw driver and hammer to punch out the primer from the shell punch from the inside to make it easier.

Step 3: Cut PVC

You can make it how ever long you want but 5 inches is what I like because fits in your pocket

Step 4: Super Glue Shell in PVC

This step is crucial you need to clean the inside of the pipe and the out side of the shell so the glue will stick this keeps the shell from shooting Back at you when you shoot it when you got the shell covered with glue hit into PVC with hammer

Step 5: The Wad

This step is for shooting many small objects such as rocks or bb's I am using a 12 gauge wad but if you don't have them use a chunk of styrofoam if your using somthing like a potato you can just ram it in the hole optional you can sharpen around the hole to make it easyer to push in

Step 6: Add the Force

To get the object to move you just simply push the fire cracker in the hole where the primer used to be go slow it is a little tight it's supposed to be so it don't fall out push it all the way so it just barely shows

Step 7: Shooting

To shoot this gun just simply light the firecracker and point in the direction you want to shoot only point at the intended target remember I am not held responsible for any damage or harm this is a gun and shoots with great force mine shoots 150 feet with a potato so be safe and have fun
Good Grief!! I may live in England where we have not so many guns, but please please PLEASE don't try this without adult supervision, a very long handle or ... maybe ask the fire department/service what they think of its safety? I like your 'make rope from cling wrap' far better.
I blow things up for a living nowadays and when I was a kid I almost lost a hand playing with similar stuff to this. You may get lucky or one day the plastic may get fed up of the repeated stress and give way, goodbye hand. Almost losing my hand focussed my mind into looking into how to do it properly, I was lucky will you be?
Guess what I'm bringing to the dinner table xD cool idea man pure genius
NOTE: This 'Ible is incredibly dangerous. NEVER EVER HOLD ANYTHING WITH A FUSE AND A PROJECTILE IN YOUR HANDS. Leave the explosives/weapons to the professionals, please.
You do realize you have created a gun. It is also an unregistered gun. 150000$ fine in the US an worse elsewhere. And a 5 year prison sentence. Also it looks like you live in a suburb. Which would be "discharge of a firearm within city limits."<br/>Now... I'm no lawyer. But I think you'll be needing one.
This pipe is pressure rated to 459 lbs
That is only in an unaltered state. Repeated use, especially with explosives, will weaken the material over time. It only takes one projectile wedged in too tight for you to get a hefty dose of PVC shrapnel.
Very interesting, but WARNING, firecrackers are dangerous. <br> <br>You could reinforce a lot the walls of the cannon, using yarn, wire, sheet, even paper (many turns well glued with white glue), a metal tube or any combination of any mentioned elements. <br> <br>You could take the cannon with a long plier, or a thick wire doing a handle, 1 foot or 2 length, to decrease the possibility of a painful accident.
I'm with Kiteman on this one. If your projectile becomes wedged in the barrel, you could quickly find yourself holding a pipe bomb. PVC is not pressure rated, and not even recommended for compressed air, much less an explosive. While several layers of duct tape may not prevent an explosion, it might keep the shrapnel to a minimum.
I'm concerned about reinforcement - you're holding this in your bare hand, with only about 2mm plastic between you and an explosive. <br> <br>Would it not be wiser to reinforce the tube (say, with several layers of duct tape) and add a handle, or mount it in a frame like a real cannon? <br>
this is really cool! great job!
